A rechargeable metal halide battery with an optimized active cathode electrolyte solution has high energy density and does not require charging following fabrication. The optimized active cathode electrolyte solution includes (i) a mixture of a metal halide and its corresponding halogen dissolved in an organic solvent at a concentration ratio greater than 0.5 and (ii) an oxidizing gas. The organic solvent is a nitrile-based compound and/or a heterocyclic compound. Glyme may be added to the organic solvent to improve battery performance.

An object of the present invention is to provide a nonaqueous electrolytic solution and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution secondary battery capable of showing high output characteristics at a low temperature even after the battery is used to some extent, and capable of showing good high-rate properties, and further capable of improving safety of batteries. The nonaqueous electrolytic solution includes a nonaqueous solvent, an electrolyte dissolved in the nonaqueous solvent, (I) a difluoro ionic complex (1) represented by the general formula (1), and (II) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a specific cyclic phosphazene compound, siloxane compound, aromatic compound, cyclohexene compound, phosphoric acid ester compound, fluorinated linear ether compound, fluorinated cyclic ether compound, and boric acid ester compound, and 95 mol % or more of the difluoro ionic complex (1) is a difluoro ionic complex (1-Cis) in a cis configuration represented by the general formula (1-Cis).

An object of the present invention is to provide a nonaqueous electrolytic solution and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution secondary battery capable of showing high output characteristics at a low temperature even after the battery is used to some extent, and capable of showing good high-rate properties, and further capable of showing sufficient performance again at low temperature even after stored at a high temperature. A polymer battery which comprises a negative electrode comprising a carbon material as an active material, an electrolyte layer and a positive electrode comprising a chalcogenide containing lithium as an active material, characterized in that the electrolyte layer comprises an ion-conducting compound and a polymer fiber, and the carbon material comprises the graphite particles having amorphous carbon adhered on the surface thereof. The polymer battery is capable of preventing the decomposition of the ion-conductive material by graphite particles.

Lithium polymer battery with a crosslinked electrolyte

A lithium polymer secondary cell having a negative electrode, a positive electrode and, arranged between the electrodes, a polymer electrolyte layer, characterized in that the cell has been subjected to a heat treatment at a temperature of 40 to 60&#xb0; C. after the assembly thereof. The polymer cell is freed of or is reduced in the adverse effect of a residual monomer and initiator on the performance of the cell. In a lithium secondary cell having a negative electrode, a positive electrode and, arranged between the electrodes, a polymer electrolyte layer, the internal resistance of the cell and the interfacial resistance between the electrode and the polymer electrolyte can be reduced by incorporating into the electrode, in advance, a polymer electrolyte precursor solution in a manner such that the electrode has a higher content of the precursor monomer and/or an oligomer thereof than that in the polymer electrolyte layer formed on the electrode.

Lithium secondary cell

A lithium secondary battery which comprises a negative electrode, a positive electrode, and disposed therebetween a polymer electrolyte comprising an ionically conductive polymer. The polymer electrolyte has a two-layer structure composed of a positive-electrode-side layer and a negative-electrode-side layer.
