A backup controller which is capable of suppressing an unintended operation performed by a motor which rotates in both of a normal rotation direction and a reverse rotation direction is provided. The control unit of the backup controller activates the second relay and the backup circuit in a case where a state in which the motor is rotating in the first direction even though the first relay is not activated is transmitted from the monitoring unit. Further, the control unit activates the first relay and the backup circuit in a case where a state in which the motor is rotating in the second direction even though the second relay is not activated is transmitted from the monitoring unit.

Backup controller

An apparatus is provided in which a motorwith reduction gears, a clutchand a gas stay are provided between a vehicle bodyand a tailgateso that a fully opened position of the tailgate can be held by virtue of a thrust of the gas stay only, and in this apparatus, when a closure of the tailgate from its own weight is detected after the motor with reduction gears is disconnected, the motor with reduction gears is connected to the tailgate to drive to forcibly close it after the tailgate is driven to be opened to the fully opened position thereof. By this construction, when the holding force of the opened position is short, since the tailgate is closed after it is opened to the fully opened position once, cargo loading and unloading work can be completed while the tailgate is so closed.

Apparatus for driving to open and close vehicular closing structure

In a method for controlling a powered sliding door system, a standard time period for the sliding door to pass a calibration interval defined near a fully closed position under a standard duty ratio condition is measured, and the duty ratio of the drive pulse signal for the motor in the remaining interval of operation is determined from this standard time period so that the sliding door may move at a prescribed speed irrespective of the load acting on the door. This control method can be favorably used in combination with the process of detecting an obstacle in the path of the sliding door, which is based on the detection in the reduction in the speed of the sliding door, without any interference between them.
