In a corner portion outside a display region of a face substrate which constitutes a face panel of a display device, an opening is formed. In the opening, a stem glass structural body which is configured by integrally forming an exhaust pipe on a center portion of a stem glass and by forming conductive leads in a peripheral portion thereof in an embedded manner, is fixed by welding using curing by heating. The exhaust pipe is evacuated and, thereafter, tipped off, thus realizing vacuum sealing of the inside thereof. A lead line is connected to a distal end of one conductive lead by welding and another end of the lead line is electrically connected with one end portion of the anode formed on an inner surface of the face substrate using a conductive adhesive agent. Further, a getter is mounted and fixed to another conductive lead line by welding.

Assuming an aperture diameter of an electron beam aperture formed in a shield cup as Vsc, an aperture diameter of an electron beam aperture formed in an inner electrode of a focusing electrode as V, and a distance between the electron beam aperture formed in the shield cup and the inner electrode as L, the above-mentioned aperture diameter Vsc, the aperture diameter Vand the distance L are determined to satisfy tan &#x3b8;=(V&#x2212;Vsc)/2L&#x2267;0.08. Due to such a constitution, it is possible to enhance the degree of vacuum in the inside of a cathode ray tube and, it is possible to prevent a getter for elevating the degree of vacuum in the inside of the cathode ray tube and for maintaining the elevated degree of the vacuum from being scattered to the electron gun side thus preventing the deterioration of the characteristics of the electron gun.

Cathode ray tube

In an electron gun including a cathode, a control electrode, an acceleration electrode Ga focusing electrode Gand an anode, longitudinally elongated concave SL-V which surround an electron beam aperture G-H and have a long axis in the vertical direction is formed at a focusing electrode Gside of the acceleration electrode Gand an electron beam aperture G-BH formed at the acceleration electrode Gside of the focusing electrode Gis formed in a longitudinally elongated shape having a long axis in the vertical direction. Due to such a constitution of the present invention, non-uniformity of the beam spot shape attributed to a deflection quantity can be reduced whereby the optimum focusing can be realized over the whole area of a screen.

Color cathode ray tube

A cathode ray tube includes an electron gun having a cathode, first and second grid electrodes, plural focus electrodes and an anode electrode fixed by two glass beads; a voltage-dividing resistor attached to one glass bead for producing an intermediate voltage applied to a first one of the plural focus electrodes adjacent to the anode electrode by dividing an anode voltage and a metal conductor attached to one of electrodes of the electron gun disposed upstream of the first one of the plural focus electrodes to surround the voltage-dividing resistor and the glass bead. The voltage-dividing resistor includes an overcoat insulating film, a resistance element and an insulating substrate stacked in the order named from the overcoat insulating film facing the glass bead, and the resistance element includes first-type resistance-forming regions disposed on opposite sides of the metal conductor and a second-type resistance-forming region containing a portion thereof facing the metal conductor. The resistance element in the first-type resistance-forming regions extends meanderingly in a direction of a tube axis, and the resistance element in the second-type resistance-forming region is configured such that minimum distances L1 and L2 between the resistance element and two long sides of the insulating substrate, respectively, are larger than corresponding minimum distances between the resistance element and two long sides of the insulating substrate in the first-type resistance-forming regions.

Cathode ray tube having an internal voltage-divider resistor

A cathode-ray tube that has an electron gun including a final-stage main lens made up of a last accelerating electrode and a focusing electrode and having a focus action stronger in horizontal direction than in vertical direction, an electron lens of a first kind formed between the divided focus electrodes and having a focus action stronger in the vertical direction than the horizontal direction to vary the cross sectional shape of an electron beam with an increase of the deflection amount, an electron lens of a second kind formed between the divided focus electrodes for weakening the lens strength with an increase of the deflection amount of an electron beam, and an electron lens of a third kind made up of at least one electrode constituting a three electrode section and having a focus action stronger in the horizontal direction than in the vertical direction. The dynamic focus voltage which decreases with an increasing deflection amount is reduced. The horizontal diameter of an electron beam spot is reduced on the central area of the screen.

Color cathode-ray tube having a dynamic focus voltage

An intermediate electrode at a middle voltage which takes a value between a focusing voltage and an anode voltage is disposed between a focusing electrode and an anode of an in-line type electron gun. The intermediate electrode has a single opening whose diameter in the horizontal direction (in-line direction) is greater than the diameter thereof in the direction perpendicular to the horizontal direction so as to allow three electron beams to pass therethrough. The intermediate electrode also has a plate electrode provided therein with three electron beam apertures which respectively allow three electron beams to pass therethrough. Inside of the focusing electrode, a plate electrode provided with three electron beam apertures is provided. Here, the relationship between a length Lc which is obtained by adding diameters in the horizontal direction of three electron beam apertures and the lengths in the horizontal direction of bridges disposed between neighboring electron beam apertures of the plate electrode mounted in this focusing electrode and a length Lm which is obtained by adding diameters in the horizontal direction of three electron beam apertures and the lengths in the horizontal direction of bridges disposed between neighboring electron beam apertures of a plate electrode mounted in the intermediate electrode is set to Lc>Lm.

In a color picture tube, a main lens of an electron gun is formed by a focus electrode to which a focus voltage, is applied an intermediate electrode to which an intermediate voltage between the focus voltage is applied and an anode voltage, and an anode electrode to which the anode voltage is applied. The focus electrode and the anode electrode are cylindrical, and plate electrodes are secured to the inner walls of the respective focus and anode electrodes, and the intermediate electrode has a construction in which a middle plate electrode is sandwiched between two cylindrical electrodes. Accordingly, it is possible to provide an electron gun which is easy to manufacture and has a superior focus performance and is reduced in performance variability.

Inline type color picture tube

The in-line type electron gun includes an electron beam generating section for generating and directing plural electron beams along toward a phosphor screen, and an electron beam focusing section for focusing the plural electron beams from the electron beam generating section onto the phosphor screen. The electron beam focusing section includes a focus electrode, at least one intermediate electrode and an anode supplied with a highest voltage arranged in the order named. The at least one intermediate electrode is supplied with an intermediate voltage between the highest voltage and a voltage supplied to the focus electrode. The following relationship is satisfied: 1.55&lE;D/L&lE;1.72, and 18.2 mm&lE;d&lE;26 mm,where D (mm) is a diagonal length of a usable display area of the phosphor screen, L (mm) is a distance from a center of the phosphor screen to an end of the anode facing toward the focus electrode, and d (mm) is an outside diameter of the neck portion.

Cathode ray tube having an overall length thereof shortened

An electron gun for a cathode ray tube includes an accelerating electrode to be supplied with a maximum voltage, a focus disposed adjacent to and spaced from the accelerating electrode, and a focus-corrective electrode adjacent to and spaced from the focus electrode. The accelerating electrode and the focus electrode form a first electron lens for focusing the electron beams stronger in a direction parallel to an in-line direction of the electron beams than in a direction perpendicular to the in-line direction, and the focus-corrective electrode is configured so as to form a quadrupole lens by application thereto of a voltage which is lower than a voltage applied to the focus electrode in cooperation with the focus electrode for elongating a cross-section of the electron beams horizontally, and is adapted to be supplied with a voltage which increases with increasing deflection of the electron beams and which is lower than the voltage applied to the focus electrode.

Cathode ray tube with reduced astigmatism and curvature of field

An electron gun for a cathode ray tube includes an accelerating electrode to be supplied with a maximum voltage, a focus electrode disposed adjacent to but spaced from the accelerating electrode, and a focus-corrective electrode adjacent to but spaced from the focus electrode. The accelerating electrode and the focus electrode form a first electron lens for focusing the electron beams stronger in a horizontal direction than in a vertical direction, and the focus-corrective electrode is configured so as to form a second electron lens by application thereto of a voltage lower than a voltage applied to the focus electrode in cooperation with the focus electrode for focusing the electron beams stronger in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction, and is adapted to be supplied with a voltage increasing with increasing deflection of the electron beams but lower than the voltage applied to the focus electrode.

Electron gun with reduced astigmatism and curvature of field and CRT

An electron gun has one first-type electron lens in the focusing electrode which changes the cross-sectional shape of the electron beam into a nonaxisymmetric shape with increase in the degree of the electron beam deflection by applying a first voltage varying in synchronism with deflection, and one second-type axisymmetric electron lens in the focusing electrode which weakens the lens power with increase in the degree of the electron beam deflection by applying a second voltage increasing with the degree of deflection.

An electron gun for a color cathode ray tube having a structure that a plate electrode to be provided within the focusing electrode is given the structure adding the external portion and providing in parallel three elliptical apertures in place of providing the cutout portion at the external portion, a plate electrode to be provided within the acceleration electrode is given the structure providing the cutout portion at the external portion and the vertical axis including the center of external elliptical portion is arranged outside the center axis when the side electron beam enters the main lens is capable of correcting astigmatism and satisfying static convergence. Moreover, rotation and deformation of plate electrode during assembling of electrode can be prevented by providing the straight line portion to the side beam apertures, aberration of lens to be generated at the main lens portion can be reduced and focus characteristic can also be stablized.

An electron gun for color picture tube wherein a focusing electrode adjacent to an acceleration electrode supplied with highest voltage includes two members comprising a first member and a second member, wherein a platelike correction electrode extended into the inside of the first member through a single opening formed in an end face of the first member opposed to the second member is so disposed above and below electron beam passage holes formed in an end face of the second member located at the opposite side with respect to the accelerating electrode and opposed to the first member as to be electrically in contact with the second member, wherein constant voltage is applied to the first member, and wherein voltage so changed in synchronism with electron beam deflection as to have a value increased with increase in the amount of deflection is applied to the second member.
