A dental treatment apparatus according to the present invention includes a drive unit that includes a micromotor, a motor driver, and the like, a controller, and a root canal length measurement circuit. The controller controls the cutting tool to be held at a head forward driven in a direction of cutting of an object to be cut. The controller also controls the cutting tool to be reverse driven in a direction reverse to forward rotation drive when the cutting tool is forward driven and the root canal length measurement circuit detects a tip end of the cutting tool reaching a reference position. The controller further carries out a fail-safe control when the cutting tool is reverse driven and the root canal length measurement circuit detects movement of the tip end of the cutting tool toward a root apex position.

Dental treatment apparatus and method of driving the same

A dental treatment apparatus is a dental treatment apparatus that energizes a dental treatment site such as a root canal with a high-frequency current. Included are a holder that holds an electrode placed at the dental treatment site, a power supply that energizes the electrode with the high-frequency current, and control circuitry that causes, during the energization operation, the power supply to provide stop period where the energization of the electrode with the high-frequency current is stopped between single energization period and next single energization period.

A dental treatment apparatus includes a handpiece holding a cutting tool in its head, a drive portion driving the cutting tool held by the head, and a control portion controlling the drive portion in accordance with a drive sequence. In a dental treatment apparatus, a control circuit controls a drive motor in accordance with a drive sequence. The drive sequence includes a plurality of drive patterns and at least one of the plurality of drive patterns is different from other drive pattern. The plurality of drive patterns include at least one drive pattern having such drive that a cutting tool is rotated in a cutting direction for cutting a treatment portion and drive for rotating the cutting tool in a non-cutting direction which is reverse to the cutting direction.

A diagnostic/treatment instrument such as a handpiece equipped with a dental treatment tool, etc. is provided with a light radiating unit that can distinctively detect a dental lesion, to facilitate the treatment of the lesion. The light emitted from the light source illuminates an area forward of the diagnostic/treatment tool.
