A drive support system can provide drive support information on traveling of an own vehicle with respect to another vehicle based on positional information. The drive support system can include a drive support level determination part which changes the degree of offer of the drive support information in a stepwise manner corresponding to a traveling area of the own vehicle. An error occurrence area memory part stores an area where an error in the positional information meets or exceeds a predetermined level in advance along with map information. A degree of offer of the drive support information is limited when the own vehicle is present within an area where an error in the positional information meets or exceeds a predetermined level.

Drive support system

A vehicle recognition allowing device is provided which allows the recognition of a traveling state of a vehicle, including a two-wheeled vehicle to be recognized and does not require a sophisticated image processing function. When a change in the speed, traveling state or both of the vehicle is detected by a traveling state detecting part, flickering frequencies of respective infrared ray markers are increased or decreased to a frequency corresponding to the change in speed, traveling state or both. Alternatively, flickering duty ratios of the respective infrared ray markers can be changed to a duty ratio corresponding to the new speed, traveling state or both.

Vehicle recognition allowing device

A vehicle position detection system is provided to detect a vehicle position with higher accuracy. The vehicle position detection system includes a GPS receiving device mounted on the vehicle to receive GPS signals from a GPS satellite, a light beacon communication device mounted on the vehicle to receive light beacon information from a light beacon arranged in front of an intersection of a road, and a central processing unit mounted on the vehicle to correct a position of the vehicle based on the light beacon information upon reception of the light beacon information by the light beacon communication device.

Vehicle position detection system

A vehicle recognizing apparatus which does not require a sophisticated image processing function of a vehicle on a recognizing side and allows a recognized vehicle to be immediately and accurately recognized by a simple image processing system. A pair of first and second infrared markers on the left and right sides are, respectively, placed at a pair of left and right vehicle components. Furthermore, a third infrared marker is provided to form a virtual triangle which may be easily distinguished by a recognizing system from extraneous infrared light sources.

Vehicle recognizing apparatus

A vehicular lighting system that enhances motorcycle visibility is provided. Vehicle front headlights, arranged so as to be laterally symmetrical, are formed in a shape of eyes capable of evoking a face. A headlight includes a circular main light forming a pupil portion, an annular ring forming an iris portion, plates each forming a sclera portion (white of eye), an upper frame forming the contour of an upper eyelid portion, and a lower frame forming the contour of a lower eyelid portion. When the main light and the plates are made to emit light, and the ring is non-light emitting, the pupil portion and the sclera portion are clearly discriminated from each other, thus enabling recognition as 'eyes' not only in the daytime but also in the nighttime. The light emitting portions may be set as the main light, the upper frame and the lower frame, and the like.

Vehicular lighting system

A communication device for small vehicles includes a single communication device that transmits signals in all directions without being interfered with by a passenger. A communication range of an electromagnetic wave with high directivity, which is susceptible to environmental conditions, can be enlarged as much as possible. The communication device, which performs at least one of sending or receiving signals, is disposed above a passenger seated on a seat of the small vehicle.

A wireless network system for enabling good communications, while minimizing the electricity consumption of a portable terminal, is described. Included are: a first relay deviceincluding first and second Bluetooth&#xae; (BT) modules {circle around (1)} and {circle around (2)}. Each of the BT modules performs a cable communication irrespective of which is a master/slave. The system also includes a second relay deviceincluding a fourth BT module {circle around (4)}; a wireless terminalincluding a third BT module {circle around (3)}; and a wireless terminalincluding a fifth BT module. The first and third BT modules structure a first piconet in which the first BT model {circle around (1)} is a master and the third BT module {circle around (3)} is a slave, and the second, fourth, and fifth BT modules structure a second Piconet in which the fourth BT module {circle around (4)} is a master, and the second and fifth BT modules {circle around (2)} and {circle around (5)} are slaves.

Wireless network system and communications method

The present invention provides a radio communication system in which not only a communication unit operating in a slave mode but also a communication unit operating in a master mode can be changed into a power saving mode. Among a plurality of communication units, one of them is operating in the master mode while the others are operating in the slave mode. Only the communication units operating in the slave mode are allowed to be changed into a suspend state. The communication unit operating in the master mode stops transmission/reception in synchronization with transition into the stop state of the communication units operating in the slave mode.

Vehicle intercommunication apparatus

Disclosed are a vehicle display device providing excellent visibility and does not obstruct a sight ahead of a driver, regardless of a frame, a seating position and the like of the driver. The device comprises a transparent light guide plate having first and second major surfaces, and an other side that can be seen therethrough from the first major surface. The light guide plate stands in such a position that the first major surface thereof faces a driver in a sight ahead of the driver. At the same time, the light guide plate is tilted rearward while an entrance end plane thereof comes at the bottom and an emission end plane thereof comes at the top. Luminous elements are placed on the entrance end plane of the light guide plate. In the light guide plate, a distance from the entrance end plane to the emission end plane is sufficiently long relative to a plate thickness. The emission end plane of the light guide plate may include a plurality of planes having different inclination angles or may be frosted. On the first major surface of the light guide plate, a groove may be formed in a direction perpendicular to a light guide direction.

A vehicle recognition system to enable a two-wheeled vehicle without a navigation system to recognize the position of a traffic intersection and to cause itself to be noticed by other vehicles. The system includes a communication distance measurement modem which receives positional information of a traffic intersection and the current position of a four wheeled vehicle from the four-wheeled vehicle. The vehicle information interface (I/F) collects vehicle velocities, acceleration and deceleration, and mileages and provides them to an electronic control unit (ECU). A differential global positioning system (DGPS) measures the current position based on an electric wave received by a GPS antenna and correction information received by a FM antenna. The ECU determines the presence of another vehicle that the two-wheeled vehicle may intersect, and outputs visual and audio signals to the helmet worn by the driver of the two-wheel vehicle.

Vehicle recognition support system

A head-up display is provided which is suitable for a motorcycle. An image is present in peripheral fields outside a 90% center field. In the case where the image is located outside the 90% center field, it does not obstruct driving of the vehicle, and in the case where the image is located in the peripheral fields, it allows a driver to dimly see the shape of the image and thereby recognize the presence of the image. For this reason, the image is located in the peripheral fields. Since an image is located in a peripheral field, the presence of the image can be recognized by a driver while not obstructing a desirable visibility to the front side of the driver. The driver can recognize, on the basis of the presence or absence of the image, whether or not attention should be taken to drive the vehicle.

An automatic accident informing apparatus for a two-wheel vehicle is provided which can detect the occurrence of accident with the use of a simple arrangement. The automatic accident informing apparatus for a two-wheel vehicle includes an accident detecting module for detecting an accident of the vehicle and an accident informing module arranged responsive to the occurrence of the accident detected by the accident detecting module for informing an external party(s) of the accident. The accident detecting module includes an inclination sensor for measuring the inclination angle of the vehicle and an accident judgment unit for judging that the vehicle met with the accident when the inclination of the vehicle remains higher than a predetermined degree throughout a specific length of time.

Automatic accident informing apparatus for two-wheel vehicle

An antenna disposition structure is suitable for a motorcycle. An antenna is disposed in a front cover in such a manner as to be disposed over a headlamp and forwardly from a virtual slant line connecting the center of a handlebar to an axle of a front wheel. A driver, who functions as a radio wave absorbing body, acts to weaken radio waves. However, since the antenna is disposed forwardly from the slant line, it is possible to prevent the effect of absorption of radio waves by a driver and to prevent reductions in electromagnetic fields in the vertical and horizontal directions.
