A suction air measuring device comprises vortex detection means for detecting a Karman vortex signal of vortex in a suction conduit of an engine as a digital signal and storing it in a storage means at a predetermined time period and digitizing means for digitizing an output of the vortex detection means to obtain a Karman vortex pulse signal, setting or resetting the Karman vortex pulse signal when an output of the vortex detection means increases from a lower extreme thereof resetting or setting the Karman vortex signal when the output of the vortex detection means decreases from an upper extreme thereof by a predetermined value.

Suction air measuring device

A measuring device for measuring an amount of suction air of an engine comprises a Karman vortex sensor disposed in an engine suction conduit, a low-pass filter for removing high frequency noise component from an output of the Karman vortex sensor, a first binarizing means for comparing an output of the low-pass filter with a predetermined value to provide a series of Karman vortex pulses, a second binarizing means for comparing the output of the sensor with a predetermined value to provide a series of Karman vortex pulses and a noise detector for comparing the number of pulses from the first binarizing means with that from the second binarizing means to judge an existence of high frequency noise of the output of the sensor, upon which a time constant of the low-pass filter is switched to exclude noise from the output of the Karman vortex sensor when a throttle opening of the engine is small.

Device for measuring amount of engine suction air

Feedback control is carried out to maintain the idling speed of an internal combustion engine at a desired idling speed determined according to the operating conditions of the engine. When the actual idling speed of the engine significantly falls with respect to the desired idling speed for some reason, the amount of the intake air is increased by a large amount, while when the rotational speed falls to a small extent with respect to the desired idling speed, the amount of the intake air is increased little by little.
