An electric motor control apparatus that can quickly and accurately locate a short-circuit fault point. The electric motor control apparatus includes: a current controller determining respective phase voltage commands according to currents flowing in respective phases of an electric motor and a torque current command; a switching element drive circuit instructing, based on the respective phase voltage commands, an inverter to perform a switching operation; the inverter receiving a switching operation signal to drive the electric motor; current detectors disposed in series with the switching elements in the respective phases of the inverter; and a short-circuit point locating mechanism storing a test pattern indicative of a predetermined combination for turning on the switching elements of the inverter, and locating a short-circuit fault point based on the test pattern and current detection values in the respective phases detected by the current detectors in response to the test pattern.

Electric motor control apparatus

A control apparatus for a multiphase AC electric motor having an inverter includes a current control including an abnormal-state current controller; an abnormal-state detector that detects an abnormal state of any of a wire of an electric motor, a wire of an inverter, and a wire connecting the electric motor to the inverter as an abnormal phase; and an abnormal phase disconnect. The abnormal phase disconnect disconnects one or more of phases detected to be in an abnormal-state and the abnormal-state current controller generates an abnormal state voltage command in accordance with detection of an abnormal state, and uses phases other than the disconnected phases of the inverter to control individual currents of the phases, with the abnormal-state voltage command used as a multiphase voltage command.

An electric power steering apparatus in which, when an abnormality is generated in an electric power steering apparatus, an assist is reduced smaller than normal when a steering burden is estimated to be small; and the assist can be increased to normal and the steering burden can be sufficiently reduced when the steering burden is estimated to be large. When an abnormality is detected, an assist command is set smaller than at a normal time when there is no abnormality in a first range where the steering burden estimated by the steering burden estimation unit is small; the assist command is increased to that at a normal time in a second range where the steering burden estimated by the steering burden estimation unit is larger than the first range; and an assist torque of a motor is controlled in response to the assist command at the abnormal time.

A control apparatus for an electric motor, in which a current controller giving multiphase voltage commands to a drive circuit for an inverter includes a normal-mode current controller for use in a normal mode, an abnormal-mode current controller for use in an abnormal mode, and an abnormality decision device. In a case of an abnormality occurring to one phase of an electric motor or the inverter, the controller is altered, and the abnormal-mode multiphase voltage commands which are generated by the abnormal-mode current controller are set as the multiphase voltage commands for the inverter drive circuit.

A road surface reaction torque detector has a low-pass filter element whose time constant is determined in accordance with a vehicle speed that is detected by a vehicle steed detector and a motor rotation speed that is detected by a motor rotation speed detector. A road surface reaction torque estimation value is obtained in such a manner that the road surface reaction torque detector performs low-pass filter processing on steering shaft reaction torque signal that is outputted by a steering shaft reaction torque signal outputting means. As a result, an accuracy of estimation of road surface reaction torque is improved.

An electric motor controller for a steering device that can apply an appropriate steering force to a steering wheel according to running conditions. An electric power steering controller of the present invention includes a steering shaft reaction force torque sensor for detecting a reaction force torque of a steering system, a superimposed reaction force torque calculating unit for multiplying a steering angle detected by the steering angle sensor by a gain to calculate a superimposed reaction force torque in the return direction of the steering wheel, and a control unit for controlling the gain so that the superimposed reaction force torque is reduced when a reaction force torque of the steering system is increased and the superimposed reaction force torque is increased when a reaction force torque of the steering system is decreased.

The present invention is an electric power steering apparatus which includes a multi-phase motor that assists steering effort of a driver, a motor drive circuit provided with at least an upper switching element that connects or disconnects the winding of each phase of the multi-phase motor and a power supply, and a lower switching element that connects or disconnects the winding of each phase of the multi-phase motor and grounding, a logic circuit that determines ON/OFF of the upper switching element and the lower switching element, and first and second microcontrollers that control the motor drive circuit via this logic circuit, in which the logic circuit determines ON/OFF of the upper switching element and the lower switching element so that the power to the winding of the each phase of the multi-phase motor is stopped according to the instruction of either the first microcontroller or the second microcontroller.

In an electric power steering control system, a road surface reaction torque estimator estimates a road surface reaction torque on the basis of steering wheel angle. A neutral point learning unit and a neutral point compensator learn a neutral point of the steering wheel on the basis of the road surface reaction torque with respect to the steering wheel angle. A return torque for returning the steering wheel to the neutral point is computed from a difference between a current angle of the motor and the learned neutral point. As a result, the steering wheel returns to the neutral point under the current driving condition without application of any force to the steering wheel by the driver.

A power steering control apparatus for a motor vehicle which ensures an appropriate steering force conforming to the prevailing road condition and hence the safety for the motor vehicle even when the wheels are locked due to hard brake applied on a slippery road. The apparatus includes a first microcomputer for determining a driving torque of a steering assist motor on the basis of steering torque information generated upon steering of a steering wheel and pseudo vehicle speed information to thereby generate and output a driving signal for the steering assist motor on the basis of the driving torque, and a second microcomputer for generating the pseudo vehicle speed signal on the basis of wheel rotation speed signals and acceleration/deceleration signal of the motor vehicle to thereby generate and output a brake actuation signal for wheels of the motor vehicle on the basis of the pseudo vehicle speed signal, the acceleration/deceleration information and brake application information. The first microcomputer may further include a memory for storing steering assist characteristics according to which the torque of the assist motor is changed.

Power steering control apparatus for motor vehicle

A camera and a beam-scan type laser radar whose optical axes are coincident are mounted on a vehicle. A lane detector detects the vehicle's own lane on a display image by processing an image picked up by the camera. A coordinate transforming device transforms the coordinates of positional information of an object, most likely a vehicle, detected by the laser radar in conformity with coordinates on the image of the camera. Another detector compares a position of the vehicle's own lane with a position of the detected object, judges whether or not the detected object is within the vehicle's own lane, and separates the detected object within the vehicle's own lane from objects detected outside the vehicle's own lane. An apparatus for determining acceleration of a motor vehicle includes an acceleration sensor for generating a signal representing acceleration of the motor vehicle, wheel speed sensor means for generating wheel speed signals indicating wheel speeds of individual wheels of the motor vehicle, and a first arithmetic unit for determining a mean value of the output signal of the acceleration sensor over a predetermined period in the running state of the motor vehicle in which the motor vehicle is making a substantially straight drive at a substantially constant speed on a substantially level ground surface during the aforementioned predetermined period, to thereby output a signal indicating the mean value, and a second arithmetic unit for determining acceleration of the motor vehicle by subtracting the mean value from the output of the acceleration sensor. An anti-skid control apparatus for a motor vehicle for controlling braking forces applied to individual wheels of the motor vehicle on the basis of differences between a vehicle speed and wheel speeds in order to prevent the wheels from being locked. The vehicle speed is determined by integrating the output of the second arithmetic unit of the acceleration determining apparatus.
