The present invention provides a toner showing an excellent fixing property even in high-speed image formation and inhibiting contamination of the inside of an apparatus and thereby being capable of stably forming high-quality images not having unevenness of gloss over a long period of time. In the toner including toner particles containing a binder resin, an ester wax, and a coloring agent, the ester wax is prescribed by, in GC/MS analysis of components volatilized by heating the wax at 200&#xb0; C. for 10 minutes, a relationship in the components having carbon atoms in specific ranges.

Toner

A toner is provided which has toner particles and an inorganic fine powder; the toner particles being obtained by suspension polymerization using a specific polar resin. The toner is a toner in which; where, in displacement levels found in a micro-compression test in which a force is applied to a toner single particle at a loading rate of 9.8&#xd7;10N/sec to measure a displacement level (&#x3bc;m) at a point of time where the force has reached a maximum force of 4.90&#xd7;10N, the displacement level of the toner at a measurement temperature of 25&#xb0; C. is represented by X(25) and the displacement level of the toner at a measurement temperature of 50&#xb0; C. by X(50), and the number average particle diameter of the toner is represented by D (&#x3bc;m), the X(25), X(50) and D satisfies the relations:0.10&#x2266;(25)/&#x2266;0.35&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)30&#x2266;[(50)&#x2212;(25)]/(25)&#xd7;100&#x2266;150&#x2003;&#x2003;(2).

Toner and process for producing toner

The invention provides a toner that is capable of low-temperature fixing even in high-speed electrophotographic processes while keeping the cleaning performance when used at high temperatures and the high-temperature storage stability. This toner having toner particles, each of which contains a binder resin and a colorant is characterized in that the temperature of Tp [&#xb0; C.] when the loss elastic modulus obtained by dynamic viscoelastic measurements on the toner exhibits a maximum value in the temperature range from at least 30&#xb0; C. to not more than 200&#xb0; C., is from at least 40&#xb0; C. to not more than 55&#xb0; C., and in that, with G&#x2033;(Tp) [Pa] being this maximum value, G&#x2033;(Tp+15) [Pa] being the loss elastic modulus at the temperature of Tp+15 [&#xb0; C.], and G&#x2033;(Tp+30) [Pa] being the loss elastic modulus at the temperature of Tp+30 [&#xb0; C.], G&#x2033;(Tp), G&#x2033;(Tp+15), and G&#x2033;(Tp+30) satisfy prescribed relationships.

To provide a toner having a superior developing performance while preventing any fixing assembly from being contaminated, the toner has toner particles which have toner base particles containing at least a binder resin, a colorant and a wax, and an inorganic fine powder, wherein the wax has a 0.2% by mass heating loss temperature of 200&#xb0; C. or more and a 1.0% by mass heating loss temperature of 250&#xb0; C. or more and has a melt viscosity at 120&#xb0; C. of from 3.0 mPa&#xb7;s to 15.0 mPa&#xb7;s.

A toner includes a toner particle, which contains at least a binding resin, a colorant, and two types of polar resins, i.e., a polar resin H and a polar resin L, and which is obtained with granulation in a water-based medium, wherein solubility parameters, glass transition points, and weight-average molecular weights of the binding resin, the polar resin H, and the polar resin L, as well as amounts of the added resins satisfy respective specific relationships.

Toner and toner particle producing method

A toner including toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant. The binder resin is a vinyl-based resin. A non magnetic toner comprises toner particles each containing at least a binder resin, a colorant and a wax component. The toner further comprises an inorganic fine powder. A storage elastic modulus at 110&#xb0; C. (G') of the non magnetic toner is in a range of 2.00&#xd7;10to 2.00&#xd7;10dN/m. A storage elastic modulus at 150&#xb0; C. (G&#x2032;) of the non magnetic toner is in a range of 3.00&#xd7;10to 2.00&#xd7;10dN/m. The toner particles are obtained by dispersing a polymerizable monomer composition containing polymerizable monomers, the colorant, the wax component and a low-molecular weight polymer into an aqueous medium, granulating the dispersed polymerizable monomer composition, and polymerizing the polymerizable monomers in granulated particles. The low-molecular weight polymer has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) measured by means of gel permeation chromatography (GPC) in a range of 2000 to 5000.

Non-magnetic toner

In a chart of molecular weight distribution measured of a toner, i) the toner has a main peak in the region of molecular weight of 16,000 to 60,000, and ii) where the molecular weight at the main peak is represented by M1, and where the height at the molecular weight M1 is represented by H(M1), the height at a molecular weight of 4,000 by H(4000) and the height at a molecular weight of 15,000 by H(15000), the H(4000), the H(15000) and the H(M1) satisfy a specific proportion. The toner has a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 15,000 to 80,000, and, in an endothermic chart, i) the toner has an endothermic main peak in the range of 40 to 130&#xb0; C., and ii) the calorimetric integral value represented by the peak area of the endothermic main peak is 10 to 35 J per 1 g of the toner.

Toner, and toner production process

Provided is anon-magnetic toner including toner particles each containing at least a binder resin, a colorant, and a wax component, and an inorganic fine powder, in which: (1) when a temperature in a temperature range of 50 to 80&#xb0; C. at which a loss tangent (tan &#x3b4;) shows a maximum is represented by T1, a storage elastic modulus of the toner at the temperature T1 (G'(T1)) satisfies a relationship of 5.00&#xd7;10&#x2266;G&#x2032;(T1)&#x2266;1.00&#xd7;10(dN/m); (2) a continuous temperature range with a width of 15&#xb0; C. or more in which the loss tangent (tan &#x3b4;) is 0.80 to 2.00 is present in the temperature range of 50 to 80&#xb0; C.; and (3) the loss tangent (tan &#x3b4;) is 1.00 or more in a temperature range of 120 to 160&#xb0; C.

To achieve improvements in developing performance, transferring performance, and fixing performance, a toner has a glass transition temperature (TgA) of 40 to 60&#xb0; C. and a temperature (P1) of the highest peak of 70 to 120&#xb0; C.; cyclohexane (CHX) insoluble matter in the tetrahydrofuran (THF) soluble matter of the toner has a glass transition temperature (TgB) of 80 to 120&#xb0; C.; TgA and TgB satisfy a specific formula; the toner has a viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 5,000 to 30,000 Pa&#xb7;s; and the cyclohexane (CHX) insoluble matter has an acid value of 5 to 40 mgKOH/g.

A toner is provided which is excellent in low-temperature fixability and offset resistance, has a wide fixing temperature range, provides fixed images with high gloss, and can form toner images having high quality. The toner is composed of toner particles having toner base particles each containing a binder resin and a colorant. When the viscosities of each of the toner particles measured at 100&#xb0; C. and 110&#xb0; C. by a flow tester heat-up method are represented by &#x3b7;(Pa&#xb7;s) and &#x3b7;(Pa&#xb7;s), respectively, an average variation in viscosity Arepresented by the following equation (1) satisfies the relationship of 0&#x2267;A&#x2267;&#x2212;0.064:=(log(&#x3b7;)&#x2212;log(&#x3b7;)/(110&#x2212;100); and&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)

Toner and method of producing toner

In an image forming apparatus having at least one single electrostatic latent image bearing member and a plurality of image forming units each having a replenishing developer cartridge and a developing assembly, at least one of the image forming units is a special-color image forming unit having a special-color replenishing developer cartridge containing a special-color replenishing developer, and at least one of the other image forming unit is a non-special-color image forming unit having a non-special-color replenishing developer cartridge containing a non-special-color replenishing developer. The special-color replenishing developer cartridge has a volume larger than the volume of the non-special-color replenishing developer cartridge, and the special-color replenishing developer contains a toner and a carrier.

Image forming apparatus

An electrostatic latent image on an image-bearing member is developed with a two-component developer comprising a toner and a carrier stored in a developer vessel while supplying as required a replenishing developer to the developer vessel. The replenishing developer comprises 1 wt. part of a carrier and 2-50 wt. parts of a toner, wherein the carrier is a magnetic fine particle-dispersed resin carrier comprising at least inorganic compound particles and a carrier binder resin, and the toner has a weight-average particle size of 3 to 10 &#x3bc;m and contains 1 to 40 wt. % of solid wax.

Replenishing developer and developing method

In a full-color image-forming method having at least a charging step, a latent-image-forming step, a developing step of developing an electrostatic latent image by the use of a developer; a transfer step, and a fixing step, the developer comprises a plurality of color developers and a black developer. The color developers are each a two-component developer for full-color image formation which has i) a color toner having color toner particles containing at least a binder resin, a colorant and a wax and ii) a carrier for the color developer.
