A temperature adjustment circuit for a vehicle includes a first temperature adjustment circuit for vehicle interior air conditioning or heating, a second temperature adjustment circuit that is configured to transfer heat with a battery, a connection path that is configured to connect the first temperature adjustment circuit and the second temperature adjustment circuit to form a connection circuit, and a first valve and a second valve that are configured to switch between an independent state where the first temperature adjustment circuit and the second temperature adjustment circuit are independent and a connection state where the connection circuit is formed.

Temperature adjustment circuit

A waste heat recovery system includes a fuel cell, a coolant circulation flow passage, a first heat exchanger, a waste heat recovery flow passage, a second heat exchanger, an upstream end of the waste heat recovery flow passage, and a downstream end of the waste heat recovery flow passage. The coolant circulation flow passage includes a first coolant supply flow passage, a first coolant exhaust flow passage, and a first bypass flow passage. The upstream end is connected to at least one of an inlet coolant reservoir and the first coolant exhaust flow passage at a position downstream of a connection point between the first coolant exhaust flow passage and the first bypass flow passage. The downstream end is connected to at least one of the inlet coolant reservoir, an outlet coolant reservoir, and the first coolant supply flow passage.

Waste heat recovery system

A refueling pipe structure of a fuel tank includes a tank body, and an a refueling pipe which is connected to the tank body to extend upwardly therefrom. The refueling pipe is provided at its upper end with a refueling port into which a refueling nozzle can be inserted. The structure includes a flow direction limiting device mounted within the refueling pipe in the vicinity of the refueling port for guiding a fuel flow from a tip end of the refueling nozzle toward an inner surface of the refueling pipe, while limiting the fuel flow in a gyrate direction along the inner surface of the refueling pipe. Thus, the generation of evaporated fuel within the refueling pipe during refueling can be inhibited, and fuel can be smoothly introduced into the tank body.

Refueling pipe structure in fuel tank

An on-off valve 30 is mounted in an intermediate portion of a first evaporative fuel conduit 24 for passing an evaporative fuel within a fuel tank 21 to a canister C. The on-off valve 30 is opened when refueling. A float valve 28 is mounted at a lower end of the first evaporative fuel conduit 24 and closed by rising of the liquid level in the fuel tank 21. A two-way valve 40 and a second float valve 29 are mounted in an intermediate portion and a lower end of a second evaporative fuel conduit 25 which permits the fuel tank 21 and the canister C to be put into communication with each other during non-refueling. By putting the first and second evaporative fuel conduits 24 and 25 into communication with each other by a communication passage 27, the internal pressure in a portion 24a of the first evaporative fuel conduit 24, between the on-off valve 30 and the second float valve 28, is equalized to the internal pressure in the fuel tank 21, thereby preventing the first float valve 28 from being stuck in a closed position.

Evaporative fuel processing device

An evaporative fuel-processing system for an internal combustion engine for use in a vehicle. A passage extends between the fuel tank and the intake passage, for guiding evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank, for processing, across which a canister is arranged. A first passage and a second passage are connected to the canister. A first valve is arranged across the first passage to allow air to flow into the canister through the first passage and inhibit air containing evaporative fuel from being discharged from the canister through the first passage. A second valve is arranged across the second passage to inhibit air from flowing into the canister through the second passage and allow air containing evaporative fuel to be discharged from the canister through the second passage. A filter is arranged in the first passage.

Evaporative fuel-processing system for internal combustion engines for

A rear panel is provided in rear of a connecting wall rising upwardly from a rear end of a front floor panel, and a fuel tank supported within a subframe is disposed beneath a lower surface of the rear floor panel. A gas fume absorbing canister and a muffler are juxtaposed in a lateral direction of a vehicle body in a space which is surrounded by a rear surface of a middle cross-member secured to a rear surface of the connecting wall, a front surface of the fuel tank and the lower surface of the rear floor panel. Thus, it is possible to shorten a purge passage connected from the canister to an engine, to protect the canister from collision against a stepping stone or the like, to insure the volume of a trunk room and to enhance the purging efficiency of the canister utilizing a heat of the muffler by reasonably disposing the canister at a rear portion of the vehicle body.

Arrangement of disposition of canister in vehicle

A canister is comprised of a casing including a top wall, a vertical wall, first and second chambers formed in the casing and each accommodating an adsorbent, and a partition member partitioning the first and second chambers from each other. A plurality of first protuberances are formed on the inner surface of the top wall at a portion thereof facing toward the first chamber, and a plurality of second protuberances on the inner surface of the vertical wall at a portion thereof facing toward the first chamber. First and second filters are mounted in the first chamber in a fashion abutting on the plurality of the first and second protuberances, respectively. A first space is defined in the top wall between the first filter and the portion of the inner surface of the top wall, and a second space is defined in the vertical wall between the second filter and the portion of the inner surface of the vertical surface and communicates with the first space. A charging port and a purging port are each formed in the top wall at a location corresponding to the first chamber and each open into the first space. An atmospheric air port is formed in the top wall at a location corresponding to the second chamber.

Canister and evaporative fuel-processing system employing same

A canister includes a partition wall which extends toward the lid member with one end thereof connected to the end wall and opposite sides are connected to an inner surface of the casing body. First and second adsorbent layers, formed by an adsorbent, are retained between first and second filters and a third filter, respectively. The first and second filters are fixedly disposed on opposite sides of the partition wall to define first and second chambers between the first and second filters and the end wall, respectively. The third filter is placed and carried on an inner surface of a support plate which is fitted in the casing body and which has a large number of communication bores. The support plate and a lid member are biased by a spring in a direction to compress the first and second adsorbent layers. An inclination inhibiting portion is provided on at least one of the casing body and the partition wall on the opposite side from the third chamber with respect to the third filter and the support plate at a distance from the third filter which substantially corresponds to a distance between the third filter and the partition wall. Thus, it is possible to prevent a reduction in adsorbing efficiency by preventing the third filter and support plate from inclining.

Canister

A fuel tank for an automotive vehicle has a tank body for storing fuel. A filler pipe is connected to the tank body. A fuel outlet port device is located within the tank body and connected to an end of the filler pipe. The fuel outlet port device has an outwardly facing fuel outlet opening from which fuel supplied through the filler pipe flows out into the body, and a fuel trap for storing part of the fuel supplied through the filler pipe to thereby prevent evaporative fuel generated within the tank body from flowing into the filler pipe. An evaporative emission control system is also provided, which incorporates the fuel tank.

Fuel tank for automotive vehicles and evaporative emission control

An evaporative fuel-processing system for an internal combustion engine comprises an evaporative emission control system including a canister having an air inlet port formed therein for introducing atmosphere into the canister and accommodating an adsorbent for adsorbing evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank. A charging passage connects between the canister and the fuel tank. A two-way valve is arranged across the charging passage. A purging passage connects between the canister and the intake system. A purge control valve is arranged across the purging passage. An ECU carries out leak-checking of the evaporative emission control system. A negative pressure responsive-type bypass valve is arranged across a bypass passage bypassing the two-way valve. A negative pressure responsive-type vent shut valve is disposed to open and close the air inlet port of the canister. The ECU controls the bypass valve and the vent shut valve to open and close, by means of negative pressure developed within the intake system.

Evaporative fuel-processing system for internal combustion engines

In an evaporative fuel processing device, an evaporative fuel passage communicating at one end to an upper space in a fuel tank is connected at the other end to a refueling line at a location corresponding to a negative pressure introducing hole provided in a lower portion of a tip end of a nozzle during refueling by a refueling nozzle which is constructed so that the refueling by the refueling nozzle is automatically stopped in response to a fuel liquid level reaching the negative pressure introducing hole during refueling. The draft resistance of an evaporative fuel passage interconnecting an inlet of the refueling line and a tank body is set larger than the draft resistance of an evaporative fuel passage interconnecting the tank body and a canister. Thus, the releasing of evaporative fuel from the fuel tank during refueling is effectively inhibited without use of a potentially unreliable seal.

An evaporative emission control system for an internal combustion engine comprises a canister for adsorbing evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank, and a first evaporative fuel passage extending between the canister and the tank main body of the fuel tank. A differential pressure-operated valve is arranged across the first evaporative fuel passage, which has a positive pressure chamber communicating through the first evaporative fuel passage with the interior of the tank main body of the fuel tank, and a back pressure chamber. The differential pressure-operated valve opens and closes the first evaporative fuel passage in response to a difference in pressure between the positive pressure chamber and the back pressure chamber. A pressure-introducing passage extends between the back pressure chamber and the inlet end portion of a filler pipe extending from the interior of the main body of the fuel tank, and a second evaporative fuel passage extends between the interior of the tank main body of the fuel tank and one of the back pressure chamber and the pressure-introducing passage. A check valve limits the amount of evaporative fuel flowing through the second evaporative fuel passage.

Evaporative emission control system for internal combustion engines

An evaporative emission control system for an internal combustion engine includes a canister for adsorbing evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank, a communication passage connecting between first and second adsorbent chambers defined in the canister, a first introducing passage for introducing the generated evaporative fuel into the canister on an occasion other than at fueling, a purging passage for purging the evaporative fuel adsorbed into the canister to the intake passage, and an air-inlet passage communicating with the atmosphere. The first introducing passage, the second air-inlet passage and the purging passage are connected to the first adsorbent chamber. A second introducing passage is connected to the second adsorbent chamber, for introducing the evaporative fuel thereinto at refueling, and an additional passage having a cross sectional area larger than that of the air-inlet passage and communicating with the atmosphere is connected to the first adsorbent chamber. A first valve is arranged across the air-inlet passage, for closing the same at refueling, and a second valve across the additional passage, for opening the same at refueling.

An evaporative fuel-processing system for an internal combustion engine includes a canister accommodating an adsorbent therein, for adsorbing evaporative fuel generated in a fuel tank of the engine, and a charging passage connecting between the canister and the fuel tank. A shutter valve is arranged in a fuel supply pipe of the fuel tank in the vicinity of an inlet end thereof, for isolating the interior of the fuel supply pipe from the atmosphere, and the shutter valve is disposed to be opened by the tip of a refueling gun when the latter is inserted into the fuel supply pipe. A pressure-intake port section is arranged in the fuel supply pipe at a side of the shutter valve closer to the main body of the fuel tank, for taking in pressure within the fuel supply pipe. A diaphragm valve is arranged in the charging passage, which has a casing, a diaphragm defining the interior of the casing into a first chamber and a second chamber, a valve element displaceable together with the diaphragm, an evaporative fuel outlet disposed to be opened and closed by the valve element, and a spring urging the valve element in a direction of closing the evaporative fuel outlet. The first chamber communicates with the pressure-intake port section, and the second chamber communicates with the interior of the fuel tank.

An evaporative fuel-adsorbing device adsorbs evaporative fuel generated from a fuel tank of an internal combustion engine. A partition divides the interior of a casing at least into a first adsorbent chamber and a second adsorbent chamber. Adsorbents are charged in the first adsorbent chamber and the second adsorbent chamber, respectively, for adsorbing the evaporative fuel. The evaporative fuel from the fuel tank is permitted to flow into the first adsorbent chamber via a charging port provided therein. The evaporative fuel desorbed from the adsorbents in the adsorbent chambers are permitted to flow out of the first adsorbent chamber via a purging port provided therein. The second adsorbent chamber is communicated with the atmosphere via an air-inlet port. The maximum flow rate of the evaporative fuel through a communication passage connecting between the first and second adsorbent chambers is changed in dependence on at least one of an amount of the evaporative fuel flowing into the evaporative fuel-adsorbing device and an amount of the evaporative fuel flowing out of same. An evaporative emission control system incorporating the evaporative fuel-adsorbing device is also provided.
