Herein disclosed is a passive seat belt arrangement mounted in a vehicle which has a roof side rail and a center pillar which are connected with each other to form a smoothly curved inner edge at a jointed portion therebetween. The arrangement comprises a guide rail attached to the roof side rail and the center piller to extend along the same thereby to form a curved portion thereof at the jointed portion. A carrier carrying one end of a webbing is slidably guided by the guide rail. The carrier has a substantially linear edge portion which faces toward the smoothly curved inner edge portion of the jointed portion when assuming a position of the guide rail on the roof side rail. When the carrier is at the curved portion of the guide rail, an angle defined between the linear edge of the carrier and any tangent line which touches the smoothly curved inner edge is not less than 90 degrees.

Passive seat belt arrangement

A mounting assembly comprises a rigid bracket having an essentially U-shaped portion and an elastic plate, the tip of which is fixed to the tip of the bracket. A guide rail of a passive seat belt system is inserted into a space between the inner surface of the shaped portion and the elastic plate to be secured to a vehicle body by a bolt.

Herein disclosed is a method of producing a headrest comprising preparing a lower mold formed with a rectangular gutter-like cavity leaving a central land, extending a thermoplastic film over the shaped work face of the lower mold, and softening the plastic film by heating it. The method further includes placing an upper mold with a counter-shaped face onto the work face of the lower mold to provide a molded article of the thermoplastic film, applying the inner surface of the molded article with adhesive, putting a pad of shock-absorbing material into the molded article, and pressing the pad against the molded article to assure bonding therebetween. The method further comprises cutting the molded article at the portions other than the portions which substantially cover the pad, thereby to provide freely movable fragments of the film, and folding back the fragments of the film to cover the remaining portions of the pad, thereby to provide one pad unit. In addition, the method comprises preparing another pad unit by carrying out the preceding steps, putting the two pad units together in face-to-face relationship with a cored member installed between them, and thrusting welts between the mutually facing faces of the assembled first and second pads.

Method of producing a headrest

A combination rack-and-armrest assembly for attachment to the inner panel of a door structure of an automotive vehicle body, comprising an upwardly open, hollow receptacle secured to the inner panel of the door structure and an armrest member at least in part pivotally movable with respect to the receptacle about a horizontal axis adjacent the inner panel of the door structure between a horizontal position closing the upper end of the receptacle and an upwardly inclined position allowing the receptacle to be open upwardly through the upper end of the receptacle, the receptacle and the armrest member being formed with a concavity and a recess, respectively, along the inner panel of the door structure for permitting a vehicle occupant to pull the door structure from an open position with his fingers slipped into the concavity.

Combination rack-and-armrest assembly

A side sill of a vehicle body includes outer and inner sill members which are welded to each other at upwardly projecting flanges, at least one of which is formed with a projection extending substantially horizontally. A kicking plate has an outer end portion which covers the upper surface of the outer sill member and which is secured thereto by clips made of plastics material. The inner end portion of the kicking plate is formed substantially as an inverted U-shaped cover which covers the flanges of the sill members. The cover has on its inner surface a projection which resiliently engages with the lower surface of the projection of at least one of the flanges.

Kicking plate mounting structure

An improved vehicle roof structure forming part of a vehicle body of a passenger car or the like, comprising a plurality of listing wires each having at least one end portion anchored by means of an anchor to one of spaced, parallel marginal portions of a roof panel. The anchor includes a bored portion formed with an axial bore which is open at one end of the bored portion and which has one end portion of the listing wire fitted thereinto, an abutment portion formed at the other end of the bored portion in abutting engagement with the marginal portion, a non-circular portion disposed adjacent to the abutment portion and having a non-circular cross section shaped substantially in conformity to and in mating engagement with the opening, and a projecting portion protruding from the non-circular portion.

Vehicle roof structure

A motor vehicle has an open luggage compartment behind the rearmost seat. The luggage compartment has two transversely spaced side panels which form part of walls surrounding the luggage compartment. A shelf in the form of a flat panel has a first pair of pins laterally projecting, in the opposite directions, from forward end portion of the shelf, and a second pair of pins laterally projecting, in the opposite directions, from rearward end portion of the shelf. A forward pair of means fixed relative to the side panels, respectively, have U-shaped members made of a resilient material for detachably and rotatably retaining the forward pair of pins, whereas a rearward pair of means fixed relative to the side panels, respectively, have U-shaped members made of a resilient material for detachably and rotatably retaining the rearward pair of pins, respectively, so that the shelf can be manually lifted to swing outwardly from the luggage compartment about the forward pair of pins or the rearward pair of pins as a pivot axis and that the shelf can be manually detached from the forward and rearward pair of means.
