A polymerizable liquid crystal composition is provided that is excellent in UV curing characteristics in the air and is excellent in orientation homogeneity, and a polymer film as a selective reflection film is provided that is obtained by orienting and polymerizing the composition on a supporting substrate. The liquid crystal composition contains a compound (1), a compound (2), a compound (3), a compound selected from a group of compounds represented by the formulae (4) to (6), and a surfactant. In the following formulae Yto Yand Yare each alkylene, A, A, A, A, A, Aand Aare each a cyclic group, Zto Zand Zare each a bonding group, Pand Pare each an integer of from 0 to 3, R, Rand Rare each hydrogen, halogen or alkyl, and Qand Qare each a polymerizable group. 

Polymerizable liquid crystal composition

A cholesteric polymerizable liquid crystal composition excellent in UV curing property and alignment property is provided. The polymerizable liquid crystal composition contains at least one liquid crystal compound selected from compounds represented by Formula (1-1) and Formula (1-2), at least one liquid crystal compound selected from compounds represented by Formula (2), and 5 to 15% by weight of at least one optically active compound selected from compounds represented by Formula (4) and may contain at least one liquid crystal compound selected from compounds represented by Formula (3). The meanings of the symbols in the Formulae are described in the specification. 

A polymerizable liquid crystal composition excellent in storage stability and UV curing property and a polymer thereof are provided. The polymerizable liquid crystal composition contains a compound represented by formula (1) as a component (A), an optically active compound represented by formula (2) as a component (B), and a mixture of a photopolymerization initiator and a photosensitizer as a component (C), and a ratio of the component (A) is from 77 to 98% by weight, a ratio of the component (B) is from 1 to 15% by weight, and a ratio of the component (C) is from 1 to 8% by weight, based on a total weight of the composition: wherein Z independently represents a single bond or alkylene having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms; Yindependently represents a single bond or &#x2014;O&#x2014;; Rrepresents methyl or ethyl; Aand Aeach independently represents 1,4-phenylene or 4,4'-biphenylene; Yrepresents &#x2014;COO&#x2014; or &#x2014;OCO&#x2014;; Q represents a single bond or oxyalkylene having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and p represents 0 or 1.
