A drive plate that has a ring gear capable of meshing with a gear of a motor, and that transmits power from the engine to an element to which the power is to be transmitted. The drive plate includes a plate member that is fixed to a crankshaft of the engine. A ring gear member is formed as an annular member having the ring gear in its outer periphery. A plurality of fastening portions are each fastened to the plate member on an inner peripheral side with respect to the ring gear. A plurality of extended weld portions each extend from the inner peripheral side with respect to the ring gear to a side of the element, each having a free end that is welded to an outer periphery of a constituent member of the element to which the power is to be transmitted.

A first element of a duplex planetary gear set is selectively coupled to an input shaft via a third clutch, or is selectively fixed via a first brake. A second element is selectively coupled, via a second clutch, to an intermediate shaft that is directly coupled to a speed-increasing element of a simplex planetary gear set which increases the rotational speed of the input shaft, or is selectively fixed via a second brake. A third element is directly coupled to an output shaft. A fourth element is selectively coupled to the input shaft via a first clutch. Therefore, by increasing the speed of the rotation of the input shaft by the simplex planetary gear set and transferring it to the duplex planetary gear set, it is possible to reduce the torques on individual components of an automatic transmission and therefore to reduce the sizes of the individual components and the capacities of the individual friction engagement elements.

A vehicle parking control system includes a shift-by-wire apparatus that is operated based on an electric range position signal corresponding to one of the driving range and the non-driving range of the drive unit and that switches the lock mechanism to an engaged state and a released state in conjunction with a switching of one of the driving range and the non-driving range of the drive unit; a vehicle parking brake unit that is operated based on the range position signal and that switches a brake unit, which is provided to stop a rotation of the rotating member of the vehicle, between a braking state and a released state; and a control unit that operates the shift-by-wire apparatus and the vehicle parking brake unit based on the range position signal.

An automatic transmission that includes a case; and a range shift device that includes: a housing with an opening portion on one side, a motor that produces a driving force based on a signal from a manually operated shift operating device, and a mechanical transmission that transmits the driving force of the motor to a manual valve, wherein the range shift device shifts a running range in accordance with a shift position of the manual valve, and the case has a joining portion that closes the opening portion of the housing.

Automatic transmission and running range switching device

A hydraulic power transmission device includes a toroid portion, a turbine hub, and a lock-up device. The toroid portion includes a pump impeller and a turbine runner. The turbine hub is engaged with an input shaft of a transmission and holds the turbine runner. The lock-up device is installed so that it engages and disengages freely and it mechanically transmits to the turbine hub rotation that is transmitted from a drive power source. The toroid portion and the lock-up device overlap in the axial direction. Because the toroid portion and the lock-up device overlap in the axial direction, the size of the hydraulic power transmission device in the axial direction can be reduced, and the hydraulic power transmission device can be made more compact.

Hydraulic power transmission device

An output of an internal combustion engine is transmitted to an output shaft by controlling a control motor to change a rotation speed output from the engine without speed steps via power distribution planetary gear. An output of a drive motor is input to the output shaft by changing the speed into two-step decelerated rotation by means of an automatic transmission. The transmission produces a desired torque by decelerating the speed by a large degree when a vehicle speed is low, and produces a desired number of revolutions by decelerating the speed by a small degree when the vehicle speed is high.

Hybrid drive system and vehicle equipped therewith

A hybrid drive unit including a first motor, a first planetary gear and a second motor, wherein the first planetary gear distributes and transmits a drive force transmitted from an input shaft to the first motor and an output shaft, a power output from the output shaft and the second motor are synthesized and the first motor and the first planetary gear are housed in a transmission case with the second motor spaced from the transmission case.

Hybrid drive unit, and front-engine/rear-drive type automobile having the hybrid drive unit mounted thereon

A reduced rotation output unit for outputting a reduced rotation obtained by reducing rotation of an input shaft is arranged at one side of a planetary gear unit in an axial direction, a first clutch and a second clutch interposed between a second rotation element of the planetary gear unit, and a third rotation element and the input shaft are arranged at the other side of the planetary gear unit in the axial direction, and an output member is arranged between the first clutch, the second clutch and the planetary gear unit. Accordingly, it is possible to position the reduced rotation output unit and the planetary gear unit close to each other, and it is possible to make a transmission member that transmits the reduced rotation output from the reduced rotation output unit to the planetary gear unit short.

A motor/generator is arranged radially outward of a middle portion of a front cover of a torque converter so that at least a part of the motor/generator axially overlaps the torque converter, with a predetermined gap (C) between the front cover and the rotor of the motor/generator. The rotor of the motor/generator is supported by either the torque converter or an engine crankshaft or by any two of the torque converter, a motor housing and the crankshaft. The rotor is not affected by the torque converter and the efficiency of the motor is not reduced.

Hybrid vehicle driving device

A multi-stage automatic transmission using a reduction planetary gear and a planetary gear set in which the respective thrust forces generated thereat are supported by a low bearing load or a low case load. The automatic transmission is provided with a reduction planetary gear, coupled to an input shaft to fix a reaction force element so as to output a reduction rotation to an output element, and a planetary gear set, that outputs a speed shift rotation upon input of the subsequent reduction rotation. During at least first gear driving, there is provided a force transmission route in which thrust forces generated at one element of the reduction planetary gear and one element of the planetary gear set, respectively, are transmitted. In that route, a torsion direction of the helical teeth of the respective elements are set such that a direction of a thrust force of the element and a direction of the thrust force of the other element are different from each other during first gear driving.

A gear supporting structure is designed to support two gears on a shaft with a short axial supporting span and without eccentricity or inclination. In this gear supporting structure wherein a first gear and a second gear are supported by a shaft in whirl-stopping and centering manners, the first gear with an axially extending boss portion is engaged with the shaft and fitted thereto in a centering manner at a whirl-stop portion and a first fitting portion, which are formed at different positions. A second fitting portion of the second gear is fitted to an outer periphery of the boss portion in a centering manner and connected with the first gear in a surface-fitting manner by a fastening device.

Gear supporting structure and hybrid driving unit employing gear supporting structure

To reduce the axial dimension and size of a drive train for a hybrid vehicle, a rotor is supported within a recess formed in the end face of the a crankshaft and is further supported by the front cover of the torque converter. As a result, compared with drive trains which have a fixed member extending from the motor housing to support the rotor, the axial dimension and size of the drive train are reduced.

A hydraulic control system includes switching mechanisms for receiving as a signal pressure a hydraulic pressure which is output from each shifting mechanism when all units of the shifting mechanisms are caused to output a hydraulic pressure, and being responsive to the reception of the signal pressure to be switched to a predetermined state for blocking a hydraulic-pressure supply path to specific hydraulic servos, thereby achieving a specific speed out of a plurality of speeds; and supply switching mechanisms provided in a hydraulic-pressure supply path to a hydraulic servo which is not included in the specific hydraulic servos, for switching between supply and cut-off of the hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic servo so as to assure two speeds in the event of the signal failure in a hydraulic control system for individually controlling engaging elements in an automatic transmission by using electric signals.

Hydraulic control system of automatic transmission

A structure in which a hydraulic-pressure control applied pressure for controlling each engagement element of an automatic transmission is realized by using an electric signal such that combinations of engagement which encounter a tie-up in case of a failure of the signal lead to interlocking are inhibited to prevent deterioration in the durability of each engagement element. An automatic transmission incorporates a planetary gear transmission mechanism using selective engagement of at least five engagement elements to realize six gear ratios, and a hydraulic-pressure control apparatus for controlling the engagement elements of the transmission mechanism. Valves are provided which inhibit combinations of engagement of two or more engagement elements of the five engagement elements for interlocking the transmission mechanism.

Hydraulic pressure control apparatus for automatic transmission

The automatic transmission of the present invention prevents fluctuation of torque transmission through a band brake. In the hydraulic operator for the band brake, a resilient elastic cushion is provided between a rod abutting one end of the band of the band brake and a piston. Any slippage between the band and drum of the band brake will result in oscillation of the rod. However, the elastic cushion absorbs oscillation of the rod, thereby isolating the piston from that oscillation.
