A plug of a connector for connecting an optical waveguide provided in a medical instrument includes: a coupling portion configured to be inserted into a receptacle of the connector; a connecting surface formed at an end in a first direction in which the coupling portion is inserted into the receptacle; an opening portion provided on the connecting surface, the opening portion having a recessed shape; and a holding portion configured to hold the optical waveguide such that an end face of the optical waveguide is directed in the first direction. The holding portion and the optical waveguide are disposed on a side of a second direction with respect to the connecting surface, the second direction being opposite to the first direction.

A scanning endoscope apparatus includes: a light source unit; an illumination fiber inserted inside an insertion portion of an endoscope, the illumination fiber being configured to guide illuminating light from a proximal end to a distal end; an actuator configured to drive the distal end of the optical fiber so that the illuminating light outputted from the illumination fiber is scanned on a subject; a memory configured to store correlation coefficient information on a correlation coefficient between a drive signal for driving the actuator and a displacement amount of the actuator; and a controller, and the controller detects a current of the drive signal for driving the actuator and corrects the drive signal for driving the actuator based on the correlation coefficient information and a value of the detected current so that the displacement amount of the actuator becomes a predetermined value.

The endoscopic image processing system includes a detection unit that detects at least one of the type of electronic endoscope connected to the endoscopic image processing system, based on information inherent to the electronic endoscope, and the type of image pickup device incorporated in the connected electronic endoscope, and an image processing unit processes the image signal produced by the electronic endoscope according to the signal level of the image signal. A domain designation unit designates a first domain to be processed by the image processing unit within the image data according to the detected type of electronic endoscope.
