Sizing agent coated carbon fibers obtained by coating carbon fibers with a sizing agent comprising at least one of (A) to (C) in a total amount of 80 mass % or more with respect to the whole sizing agent, the carbon fibers each having a surface layer which has a thickness of 10 nm or larger and has an oxygen content of 4% or higher with respect to all the elements, wherein when the sizing agent coated carbon fibers are subjected three times to a 10-minute ultrasonic treatment in an acetone solvent, then the amount of the remaining sizing agent is 0.1-0.25 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the sizing agent coated carbon fibers. To provide a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin molded article having excellent impact strength and flexural strength, provided is a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin molded article, including: a carbon fiber (A), an organic fiber (B) having a strand strength of 1500 MPa or more and, a thermoplastic resin (C), wherein the fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin molded article contains 5 to 45 parts by weight of the carbon fiber (A), 1 to 45 parts by weight of the organic fiber (B), and 20 to 94 parts by weight of the thermoplastic resin (C) with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total of the carbon fiber (A), the organic fiber (B), and the thermoplastic resin (C), wherein a ratio (L/l) of the critical fiber length Lof the organic fiber (B) to the number average fiber length lof the organic fiber (B) is 0.9 or more and 2.0 or less, and wherein an interfacial shear strength between the organic fiber (B) and the thermoplastic resin (C) is 3.0 MPa or more and 50 MPa or less.

Provided are tubular carbon fiber reinforced composite material and having excellent cylindrical bending strength and a golf club shaft using the same. This tubular carbon fiber reinforced composite material is formed by laminating and curing a straight layer and a bias layer. The straight layer comprises carbon fibers S coated with a sizing agent S and arranged in parallel in a direction of &#x2212;20&#xb0; to +20&#xb0; with respect to the axis of the tubular body, and contains a thermosetting resin S. The bias layer comprises carbon fibers B coated with a sizing agent B and arranged in parallel in a direction of +25&#xb0; to +65&#xb0; with respect to the axis of the tubular body, and contains a thermosetting resin B. The carbon fiber reinforced composite material constituting the bias layer has an interlaminar shear strength of not less than 110 MPa. A cured product of the thermosetting resin S has an elastic modulus of not less than 4.0 GPa.
