The metal member includes: a plurality of opening portions configured to cause the refrigerant to pass therethrough; and a capture and reduction portion having such a shape as to capture air bubbles, which are generated through a connection surface between the casing and the electronic device. The air bubbles are reduced through cooling by the refrigerant when the electronic device is cooled.

A semiconductor module is provided with a conductive member having one end, in a longitudinal direction, joined to an electrode of a semiconductor element that is mounted on an insulating substrate, the other end of the conductive member in the longitudinal direction being joined to a component different from the electrode. The conductive member is made up of a metal sheet, and has a bent portion at the one end and at the other end. The bent portion provided at the one end has a cut in a leading end portion, in the longitudinal direction, and an end joining section at which the cut is not present is joined to the electrode of the semiconductor element. As a result, a semiconductor module can be realized that allows combination of increased current capacity with improved reliability.

The cooling system includes a heat exchanger, the circulating pump, a first refrigerant channel in which an electric device and the circulating pump are provided, a second refrigerant channel connected to the first refrigerant channel so as to form a circulation channel of the refrigerant, in which the heat exchanger is provided, a bypass channel connected to the first refrigerant channel in parallel to the second refrigerant channel, in which a charger is provided, and a valve provided at a position where the first refrigerant channel and the bypass channel are connected to each other, for forming a circulation channel of the refrigerant, the circulation channel including the first refrigerant channel and the second refrigerant channel, to restrict a flow of the refrigerant through the bypass channel when the electric device is in operation.

A cooling device according to the present invention includes a housing having a hollow interior, the housing having a refrigerant inlet from which refrigerant flows in and a refrigerant outlet from which the refrigerant flows out, and having, in the hollow interior, a refrigerant flow path through which the refrigerant flows, and an opening body provided in the housing, dividing the refrigerant flow path into a first area including a heating surface being at least one of a bottom surface and side surfaces of the housing and heating the refrigerant, and a second area including the refrigerant outlet, and having a plurality of openings.

A power converter includes: a base conductor, an electrically heating member which is provided on the base conductor, a noise reduction capacitor of flat plate-shape in which via an insulator, a plurality of first electrodes and second electrodes are alternately layered, on one surface, the first electrode in an outermost layer is exposed and on another surface, the second electrode in an outermost layer is exposed, a relay conductor which is electrically connected to other members from the electrically heating member via the noise reduction capacitor, and the second electrode in an outermost layer of the noise reduction capacitor is face-joined to a face of the base conductor at a side where the electrically heating member is provided and the first electrode in an outermost layer and the relay conductor are face-joined.

A waveguide, that is improved in size, costs, manufacturing and in durability, has a base having a mounting surface, and a plate member held on the mounting surface of the base for defining a waveguide in cooperation with the base. The mounting surface of the base is a curved surface defined by a sweep of a flexure curve of the plate member when it is loaded along a straight line. The plate member is attached to the base in such a manner that the plate member is pressed against and curved along the mounting surface, and that the plate member has a curvature direction edge portion extending in a curvature direction which is a general extension of the flexure curve and a sweep direction edge portion extending in a direction of the sweep of the curve.

A passenger protection apparatus of a simple construction is capable of stably performing air bag control and preventing erroneous control due to objects such as passenger's hands, newspapers, etc., other than passenger' head. A collision detection part detects a collision of a vehicle, and an object detection part detects an object in a prescribed object detection area rearwardly of an air bag installation surface in the vehicle based on a signal from a sensor. An air bag control signal generation part controls the expansion of an air bag based on the detection results of the object detection part and the collision detection part. The air bag control signal generation part makes the air bag control signal into an expansion permission signal only when an object exists in the object detection area at the time of detection of the collision or within a predetermined time from the detection of the collision.

A sensor in a car window permits a reduction in size thereof. The sensor includes a lens that is provided on the inner side of a sloping windshield to condense light coming from an object to be detected that is located outside the windshield, a sensor main body that detects the object to be detected by means of the light that has passed through the lens, and a transparent glass pane that is provided between the windshield and the lens to refract the light from the object to be detected that has passed through the windshield.
