The present invention relates to an ink jet printer in which drops of ink are jetted out onto a surface of a recording medium so as to record an image. The present invention is to obtain an economical ink jet printer in which a reaction force generated in the reciprocal motion of the ink jet head is simply canceled, and the ink jet printer is small and light, and less vibration is caused in the printer, and further it is possible to drive the printer with a small amount of drive energy. The ink jet printer includes: a recording medium conveyance device for conveying a recording medium in the subsidiary direction; a plurality of ink jet heads in which a plurality of nozzles for jetting drops of ink to a surface of the recording medium are disposed, the ink jet heads being capable of moving in the primary scanning direction substantially perpendicular to the subsidiary scanning direction, the ink jet heads being arranged in the printer main body being aligned in the subsidiary scanning direction; and a head reciprocation drive device for reciprocating the ink jet heads in the primary scanning direction at phases different from each other.

Ink jet printer in which reaction force is canceled

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of light sources emitting beams of light, a photoconductor, a scanner for reflecting the beams of light emitted by the light sources to scan the photoconductor periodically, a light detector for receiving the beams of light from the scanner to determine a beam pitch between the beams of light, the light detector being provided in a part of an optical path between the scanner and the photoconductor, a beam shifter for shifting the beams of light incident on the scanner from the light sources, and a controller for operating the beam shifter so that the beam pitch determined by the light detector becomes a predetermined value.

A method of manufacturing an ink jet head includes the following steps, wherein the ink jet head is provided with a plurality of pressure chambers arranged continuously, ink feed means for feeding ink into these pressure chambers, and ink ejecting means for ejecting ink from each pressure chamber via a nozzle, so as to feed and eject ink by a change in volume of each pressure chamber. First, a first metallic film is formed on both surfaces of at least one wall composing the pressure chamber perpendicular to an arranging direction of the plurality of pressure chambers, wherein the at least one wall is one wall of a piezoelectric element deformed when a voltage is impressed. Then, the first metallic film formed on one of the both surfaces of at lest one wall is removed to form an exposed surface of the wall of the piezoelectric element. Thereafter, a second metallic film is formed on the exposed surface, whereby metallic films, thicknesses of which are different from each other, are formed on the both surfaces of at least one wall of the piezoelectric element.

Method of manufacturing ink jet head

A piezoelectric fluid pump includes a stationary pump base and a plurality of piezoelectric elements arranged in parallel on the stationary pump base, each of the piezoelectric elements having, in a polarizing direction thereof or in a direction perpendicular to the polarizing direction, a first end fixed to the stationary pump base and a free, second end. The free, second ends of respective pairs of adjacent the piezoelectric elements are connected to each other, for respective units of the fluid pump. Between the pair of piezoelectric elements and between the stationary pump base and the connecting means, pressure chambers are defined. There are gaps are between walls of the piezoelectric elements and walls of piezoelectric elements of adjacent units.

An exposure method which has a step of offsetting a first scanning line bend by scanning means with a second scanning line bend by an image forming lens, and/or a step of correcting angles of optical axis of a plurality of light beams in accordance with the amount of a deviation in a subscanning direction due to a difference of the angles of incidence, so that a distance between scanning lines on a photosensitive body due to the plurality of light beams is corrected. An image forming apparatus which has an image forming lens for producing a second scanning line bend is so as to offset a first scanning line bend by scanning means, and/or correcting means for correcting angles of optical axis of a plurality of light beams in accordance with the amount of a deviation in a subscanning direction due to a difference of the angles of incidence, so that a distance between scanning lines on a photosensitive body due to the plurality of light beams is corrected.
