The exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine that includes an oxidation catalyst and a selective catalytic reduction catalyst provided for an exhaust gas passage and has the improved entire NOx purification rate. A control unit, which controls a fuel supply amount to the oxidation catalyst, executes first control of controlling the fuel supply amount by the fuel supply unit so that NOx is reduced by the oxidation catalyst when the selective catalytic reduction catalyst is in an inactive state and the temperature of the oxidation catalyst belongs to a predetermined temperature range equal to or higher than the active temperature of the oxidation catalyst, and second control of controlling the fuel supply amount by the fuel supply unit so that the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the selective catalytic reduction catalyst is raised by oxidation of the fuel in the oxidation catalyst irrespective of a NOx purification rate of the selective catalytic reduction catalyst when the selective catalytic reduction catalyst is in the inactive state and the temperature of the oxidation catalyst exceeds the predetermined temperature range.

Exhaust gas purification apparatus for internal combustion engine

An object of the present invention is to suppress a reduction in an NOpurification ratio when an addition is implemented to prevent a blockage from occurring in a reducing agent addition valve. A fuel addition valve, a catalyst having an oxidation capacity, and a selective reduction type NOcatalyst are provided in sequence in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine, and when a temperature of the selective reduction type NOcatalyst is within a predetermined temperature range while a predetermined condition for injecting fuel from the fuel addition valve is established, an amount of fuel injected from the fuel addition valve is reduced below an amount of fuel injected when the temperature of the selective reduction type NOcatalyst is outside the predetermined temperature range.

The present invention pertains to a control system for an internal combustion engine equipped with an exhaust gas purification apparatus including an NOcatalyst having an ability of reducing NOand a particulate filter, and its object is to prevent deterioration in the acceleration performance while preventing an increase in exhaust emissions when the temperature of the NOcatalyst is low. The control system for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention includes an exhaust gas purification apparatus provided in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine and including an NOcatalyst having an ability of reducing NOand a particulate filter, intake air quantity restriction means for restricting the intake air quantity in relation to the temperature of the NOcatalyst, fuel restriction means for restricting the fuel injection quantity in relation to the intake air quantity of the internal combustion engine, and trapped PM amount obtaining means for obtaining the amount of PM trapped in the particulate filter. When the amount of PM trapped in the particulate filter is not larger than a predetermined amount and the internal combustion engine is in an accelerating operation state, the control system corrects a restriction value of the fuel injection quantity in relation to the intake air quantity of the internal combustion engine and the temperature of the NOcatalyst.

An object is to reduce the increase in the fuel consumption or the increase in emissions caused by processing for raising the temperature of an NOcatalyst in an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine having the NOcatalyst arranged in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine. To achieve the above object, an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention executes processing for raising the temperature of the NOcatalyst on condition that a temperature change ratio with a predetermined amount of assumed temperature rise of the NOcatalyst is equal to or higher than a reference value. A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine is provided which can accurately correct a valve timing deviation of an intake valve caused by a variable operating angle mechanism or variable phase mechanism. A variable operating angle mechanism () for making the operating angle of an intake valve () variable is provided. Operating angle command values (operating anglesand) of two points in front and back at which the intake air amount is decreased by a predetermined amount with respect to the value that is judged to be a maximum value of the intake air amount when the operating angle (command value) is kept changing, are acquired. Then, an intermediate value which is at an equal distance from the operating angle command values of the two points is calculated as the maximum operating angle command value. Then, this maximum operating angle command value is compared with a reference characteristic to execute the calculation of the deviation amount of the valve timing and the correction of the deviation.

An ammonia burning internal combustion engine can feed ammonia and a highly combustible substance burning easier than ammonia to a combustion chamber. When the amount of ammonia fed into the combustion chamber is increased or when the ratio of the amount of the ammonia to the total amount of the ammonia and the highly combustible substance fed into the combustion chamber is increased, the operating parameters of the internal combustion engine are controlled so the air-fuel mixture fed into the combustion chamber is made easier to burn. A control device for an internal combustion engine includes: a variable valve timing portion changing a phase of opening and closing of each of an intake valve and an exhaust valve into a target phase; an EGR valve adjusting an exhaust gas recirculation amount recirculated from an exhaust side to an intake side; a supercharging efficiency control portion controlling a supercharging efficiency of a supercharger; a throttle valve adjusting an intake air amount; and the internal combustion engine feedback-controls at least two of the EGR valve, the supercharging efficiency control portion, and the throttle valve, and feedforward-controls the variable valve timing portion.

An internal combustion engine can use ammonia and a non-ammonia fuel which is easier to burn than ammonia as fuel. The non-ammonia fuel is directly injected into a combustion chamber by a non-ammonia fuel injector, and the injected non-ammonia fuel is ignited, whereby combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber is commenced. An electronic control unit (ECU) of an engine system starts a control (preheat) that supplies heat reserving hot water stored in a heat accumulating device to an engine prior to an engine start. The ECU determines a time that continues the preheat on the basis of a cooling water temperature of the engine so as to execute the engine start after a warming-up of the engine is reliably finished. Further, during the execution of the preheat, a lighting lamp is turned on, and that incidence is recognized to a driver. When the preheat is completed, the ECU automatically starts the engine.
