An electric motor includes a shaft supported rotatably around a rotation axis, a rotor rotatable integrally with the shaft, a stator, and first and second retaining members to hold the rotor therebetween in an extending direction of the rotation axis. The rotor includes a stack of thin plates arranged in the extending direction of the rotation axis and including identically-shaped through holes. The through holes define air passages penetrating the rotor in the extending direction of the rotation axis. The first and second retaining members respectively include first and second through holes in communication with the air passages. The radially outermost portions of the walls of the first through holes are located radially inward from the radially outermost portions of the walls of the second through holes.

Electric motor

A first bracket in an electric motor includes an inflow path through which outside air flows inside, and an outflow path through which the air having flowed in flows outside. A stator core included in the electric motor includes a first ventilation path that is coupled with the inflow path and a second ventilation path that is coupled with the outflow path. A second bracket includes a third ventilation path that forms a flow path from the first ventilation path to the second ventilation path positioned symmetrically to the first ventilation path with respect to a plane containing a rotation axis. The air having flowed into the inside of the electric motor through the inflow path passes, in order, through the first ventilation path, the third ventilation path, and the second ventilation path, and flows out to the outside of the electric motor through the outflow path.

A frame included in an electric motor has an inflow hole that allows outside air to flow in an interior of the electric motor and an outflow hole that allows the outside air having flowed in to flow out of the electric motor. The electric motor includes a first partition member forming a first ventilation path between the first partition member and the frame, and a second partition member forming a second ventilation path between the second partition member and the frame. In addition, the stator has a third ventilation path penetrating through the stator from one end to another end of the stator in a direction of a rotational axis and configured to communicate with the first ventilation path and the second ventilation path.

Ventilation structure for air cooling of electric motor

A vehicular cooling device includes an opening, a discharge port, an air channel, and a fan. The opening is formed in a surface parallel to a travelling direction of a vehicle. The discharge port is formed in a surface of the housing and connected to the opening via the air channel. The fan is provided inside the air channel. First blockers are spaced apart in the travelling direction in the opening. Each first blocker extends in a direction perpendicular to both the travelling direction and an inflow direction of the outside air, and includes first and second members. The first member is a plate-like member having a main surface intersecting the travelling direction. The first member and the second member are symmetric with respect to a plane perpendicular to the travelling direction, and have a travelling-direction spacing therebetween that increases along the inflow direction of the outside air.
