Various systems and methods are described for controlling a dual-fuel engine that has an evaporated gas providing device for providing an evaporated gas into the engine and is operable with hydrocarbon fuel or non-hydrocarbon fuel, alternatively. One example method comprises operating the engine with one of the fuels on the basis of a driver's request, and in response to a determination of a cold engine operation, operating the engine with the non-hydrocarbon fuel for a specified period irrespective of the driver's request. If it is determined that an evaporated fuel is to be provided to the engine while the engine is operating with non-hydrocarbon fuel due the cold engine operation, then switching to operation with hydrocarbon fuel and thereafter providing evaporated fuel into the engine.

Control method and system for dual-fuel engine

An internal combustion engine combusts a first fuel or a second fuel. A method for controlling the engine comprises supplying first fuel to at least one combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine, stopping the supply of the first fuel to the combustion chamber in response to an engine operating condition, and fueling with the second fuel to the at least one combustion chamber after a predetermined period, so as to maintain an engine speed within a predetermined range.

Fuel switching for dual fuel engine

There is described a method for controlling a hybrid electric vehicle power-train comprising an internal combustion engine, an electric machine and a transmission, the transmission having a gear set with three rotational elements rotationally coupled to the internal combustion engine, the electric machine and the vehicle driving wheel, a rotational speed of any one of the three rotational elements being mechanically defined by the rotational velocity of the remainder of the three rotational elements. The method comprises adjusting the torque of the electric machine to change the speed of the internal combustion engine and to control the velocity of the electric machine above a predetermined value, and decreasing the torque of the internal combustion engine while substantially maintaining the intake manifold pressure of the internal combustion engine in response to a decrease in the demanded engine output. The method may advantageously improve both of the engine efficiency and the power transmission efficiency, then may improve the operating efficiency of the overall power-train system having the internal combustion engine and the transmission coupling the engine, the electric machine and the driving wheels.

Method for controlling hybrid electric vehicle powertrain

A fuel supply apparatus for use with a gaseous fuel engine is provided with an intake passage having an inlet port open to a cylinder and adapted for supplying air into the cylinder therethrough; a fuel supply device for supplying gaseous fuel into the cylinder, the fuel supply device including at least two fuel supply systems each of which is provided with fuel amount adjusting mechanism for adjusting an amount of gaseous fuel to be supplied, the fuel supply systems including high and low pressure fuel supply systems used in a high induction zone where a large amount of air is admitted into the cylinder and in a low induction zone where a small amount of air is admitted into the cylinder, the high pressure fuel supply system being constructed so that the gaseous fuel is supplied into the cylinder during a former half of a compression stroke following an air intake stroke of the engine at a pressure higher than a pressure in the cylinder through a gaseous fuel supply port open to the cylinder independently of the inlet port, and the low pressure fuel supply system being constructed so that the accuracy of adjusting the fuel amount when a fuel supply amount is small is higher than the high pressure fuel supply system; and control means for controlling actuation of the respective fuel supply systems according to an operating state of the engine.
