A keyboard includes a plurality of key row holders each supporting a plurality of key elements constituting each of the plurality of key rows, a support shaft placed to be rotatable about an axial center and support the plurality of key row holders arranged to intersect the axial center, an engaging portion formed on a support surface of each of the plurality of key row holders for the support shaft, and an engaged portion formed spirally on a surface of the support shaft in a direction of the axial center so as to be engaged with the engaging portion of each of the plurality of key row holders, the engaged portion causing the plurality of key row holders to shift in the direction of the axial center by an engagement with the engaging portion upon rotation of the support shaft. The keyboard enables easy and accurate key pitch adjustment.

A tray ejecting mechanism includes a stationary bezel mounted to a front surface of an ejectable tray, and a movable bezel movably attached to the stationary bezel while being biased in a front-surface direction. The stationary bezel includes a detection component positionally shiftable in accordance with an open/close position of the tray, and a switch component having a pressing portion for pressing an ejection switch on the tray and being positionally shiftable in conjunction with the detection component. When the tray is closed, the switch component is positioned such that, as the movable bezel is pushed inward, a pressing rib applies a pressing force to the pressing portion to press the ejection switch. When the tray is open, the ejection switch is prevented from being pressed by the pressing portion even if the movable bezel is pushed inward toward the stationary bezel.

A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal element including a front substrate positioned on the side of an observer and having a first electrode mounted to one surface, a rear substrate having a second electrode arranged to face said first electrode, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between these substrates, said liquid crystal layer controlling the polarized state of the transmitted light in accordance with the electric field applied between the first and the second electrodes. A first reflection polarizing plate is arranged on the front side of the liquid crystal element and reflects the light of one of the two polarized components of the incident light. Two polarized components are perpendicular to each other, and transmit the light of the other polarized component.

In a voice receiving mechanism and a handset, an ear pad and a speaker are secured to a ball of a ball joint, and a grip portion supports a ball holder of the ball joint. Therefore, the ear pad, and so on are swingable in any direction relative to the grip portion, and the ear pad, can be brought into close contact with the ear. Further, a leaf spring applies a braking force to the ball. So that, even after the ear pad is separated from the ear, the orientation (direction and angle) of the ear pad, can be kept so that the ear pad can come into close contact with the ear.

A process for manufacturing a liquid crystal display, comprising the steps of providing a first base plate of a resin and a second base plate of a resin, providing at least one of the base plates with an electrically connecting terminal, forming an opening in a base plate of the base plates opposite the electrically connecting terminal when the base plates are bonded to each other, providing at least one of the base plates with a seal, bonding the base plates to each other by means of the seal, providing a space between the base plates with a liquid crystal, and separating the base plates on a line adjoining an edge of the opening. The opening protects the connecting terminal from being physically damaged and separated at the separation step to improve the production yield of the display.
