A transparent filmhas a substrate layerformed of a transparent resin material, and a back-face layerwith a thickness of 1 &#x3bc;m or less provided on a first faceA thereof. A percent change in coefficient of friction &#x394;&#x3bc; is less than 10% for the transparent filmwhen the percent change is determined from a coefficient of friction &#x3bc;of the back-face layer after being conserved at 50&#xb0; C. and 15% RH for three days and a coefficient of friction &#x3bc;of the back-face layer after being conserved at 80&#xb0; C. and 80% RH for three days, with an absolute value of difference between the two coefficients of friction |&#x3bc;&#x2212;&#x3bc;| being divided by the smaller value of the two coefficients of friction.

The object of the present invention is provision of a surface protection sheet for laser processing to be applied to the surface on the opposite side of the laser beam irradiation face, which can protect the surface of an application object, and does not allow easy development of a dross during laser cutting processing. A method is to manufacture a surface protective film for transparent conductive films having a rate of thermal shrinkage of no more than 0.9% in both MD (machine direction) and TD (width direction) as measured after being heated at 150&#xb0; C. for 1 hour. The method includes: providing a base material film; applying an adhesive on one surface of the base material film; and applying a drawing tension of no more than 80 N per width of 1 m of the base material film under conditions of a temperature of 100&#xb0; C. through 150&#xb0; C. and a residence time of 20 through 120 seconds, thereby removing a residual stress and simultaneously drying the adhesive.

A film for protecting a display surface of a liquid crystal display is provided, which contains a polymer film having a coefficient of bending stress k as expressed by the formula: k&equals;Eh , wherein E is a tensile elastic modulus (N/mm ) in a machine direction and h is a thickness (mm), of not less than 0.01 (N&middot;mm), and which shows an amount of moisture permeation at 35&deg; C., 80% RH (relative humidity) for 72 hours of not less than 100 g/m &middot;72 hr. According to the present invention, the protection film can be applied to the display surface of a liquid crystal module with superior workability during assembling. The film prevents occurrence of changes in optical hue (color shading) on the display surface in the state of actual use upon peeling off of the protection film after distribution process.

A masking tape or sheet comprising a substrate comprising a resin (a) comprising a polypropylene as a hard segment and an olefin copolymer as a soft segment, and an adhesive layer formed on one side of said substrate. The masking tape of the present invention can precisely follow the shape of adhesion surfaces having curves, and can provide fine parting lines. In particular, when polypropylene resin (b) is added to the resin (a), the back face of the masking tape becomes smooth and can be adhered easily with fingers, and the tape can be easily cut with a cutter knife. Hence, the use of the masking tape of the present invention leads to an improved efficiency of adhesion work, particularly when the work is manually done. In addition, since the masking tape of the present invention does not contain vinyl chloride in the substrate, the masking tape after use can be incinerated without generating a toxic gas such as chlorine gas.
