A pointing device includes an operation body that operates a cursor moving on a display screen, a detection unit that detects an operating force applied to the operation body, a cursor control unit that generates cursor movement data according to the operating force, a communication control unit that outputs the cursor movement data to the outside, and a central control unit that controls the operation of the units. The cursor control unit includes a cursor-speed determining unit and a recording unit. The cursor-speed determining unit determines cursor moving speed in an X-Y plane direction by a predetermined reference function from an operating force in an X-Y plane direction and an operating force in a perpendicular z axis direction perpendicular to the X-Y plane direction that are detected by the detection unit. The recording unit stores the reference function. The cursor-speed determining unit changes the reference function in accordance with the magnitude of the operating force in the perpendicular Z axis direction, and determines the cursor moving speed in the X-Y plane direction by the changed function.

Pointing device capable of determining cursor-speed

A coordinate input device includes an operation unit that is provided so as to be operated, strain sensors that output data corresponding to an operation amount of the operation unit, and a control unit. The control unit performs the count corresponding to the increase or decrease of speed data that is obtained by converting data sequentially output from the strain sensors, and generates counted count values or coordinate data calculated from the count values. The control unit calculates a moving average value from the count values that are sequentially output every predetermined time. When the moving average value satisfies predetermined conditions, the control unit regards that the operation of the operation unit is cancelled, and stops the output of the coordinate data or outputs 0 as the count value.

Coordinate input device

A capacitive input pad is provided at a position near input keys constituting a keyboard input unit. A left palm detecting unit and a right palm detecting unit are provided both sides of this input pad. When the left palm detecting unit and the right palm detecting unit detect both palms, an input operation, corresponding to a space key input area, an L-key input portion, or an R-key input portion, is performed through an operation of the input pad. When the left palm detecting unit and the right palm detecting unit do not detect both palms, a coordinate input operation is performed using the input pad.

Input device with palm detecting unit

A pad type input device is provided. The pad type input device includes an operation surface which includes a scroll area operated by an operation body. A detector is operative to detect a touch position of the operation body placed on the operation surface as positional information on a coordinate plane. A data processor is operative to acquire an operation signal obtained by the detector to perform a predetermined process. The data processor outputs a scroll signal that moves display contents in a predetermined scroll direction when the operation body placed on the scroll area is in a stop state where the operation body does not move, even after a predetermined time elapses.

Pad type input device and scroll controlling method using the same

An input device is provided. The input device includes a key input unit having a plurality of input keys and an input operation unit. A key input monitor monitors a key input to the key input unit. A timer measures a setting time upon the key input. A relay driver is operative to acquire and output an operation signal output from the input operation unit as a control signal and monitor the operation signal. The key input monitor is operative to initiate the timer when the key input to the key input unit is detected and set the relay driver to an output inhibition state. The relay driver is operative to release the output inhibition state such that the control signal is normally output when it is detected that the operation signal is a predetermined operation input within the setting time.

Input device

An input device allowing an operator to select any one of selection items of a pop-up menu with an easy operation is provided. The input device includes two kinds of operation units configured to output a coordinate translation signal in at least one direction and a control unit configured to control display information on a display screen on the basis of the coordinate translation signal output from operation unit. When scrollable display information is displayed and the pop-up menu is not displayed on the display screen, the control unit scrolls the display information on the basis of the coordinate-translation signal, and, when the scrollable display information and the pop-up menu are both displayed on the display screen, the control unit controls sequentially high-lighting of a plurality of selection items of the pop-up menu on the basis of the coordinate-translation signal.
