A projection display device including a first liquid crystal panel that generates a first image, a second liquid crystal panel that generates a second image, a prism that combines the first image with the second image shifted in a horizontal direction with respect to the first pixel and outputs a combination image, a light path shift element, and a display control circuit that controls the first liquid crystal panel, the second liquid crystal panel and the light path shift element. The display control circuit supplies a data signal of a first color component in an odd-numbered row of video pixel data to the first liquid crystal panel in a first unit period, and supplies the same data signal of the same first color component in an even-numbered row of the video pixel data to the first liquid crystal panel in a second unit period.

Projection display device

A projection-type display apparatus includes a liquid crystal panel, an optical path shift element, and a display control circuit that controls the liquid crystal panel and the optical path shift element. When a difference in gray scale level between pixel data corresponding to a panel pixel pand pixel data corresponding to a panel pixel p, the panel pixel pand the panel pixel pbeing two adjacent pixels, is equal to or larger than a threshold in a unit period-for example, the display control circuit corrects at least one of a gray scale level of a video pixel corresponding to the panel pixel pin a previous unit period-or a gray scale level of a video pixel corresponding to the panel pixel pin a unit period-to reduce a difference in luminance between the panel pixels.

A projection-type display apparatus including a liquid crystal panel including a plurality of panel pixels, an optical path shifting element configured to shift a position of a projection pixel for each of unit periods, included in one frame period, and a display control circuit configured to control the liquid crystal panel and the optical path shifting element. The display control circuit supplies a data signal to the plurality of panel pixels per the unit period, supplies a signal based on pixel data, as the data signal, to a peripheral panel pixel arranged at a periphery among the plurality of panel pixels in a unit period as a part in one frame period, and supplies a signal having a gray scale level equal to or less than a threshold value as the data signal in a unit period other than the unit period as the part in the one frame period.

Projection-type display apparatus and method for controlling projection-type display apparatus

A projection type display apparatus includes a liquid crystal panel including a first panel pixel, a liquid crystal panel including a second panel pixel, an optical path shift element that shifts projection positions of the first panel pixel and the second panel pixel, and a display control circuit that controls the liquid crystal panel and the optical path shift element. The display control circuit causes the optical path shift element to shift the projection position from a first unit period to a fourth unit period of one frame period for each unit period. A centroid of a path on which the first panel pixel is projected from the first unit period to the fourth unit period is different from a centroid of a path on which the second panel pixel is projected from the first unit period to the fourth unit period.

Projection type display apparatus

A display device includes liquid crystal panels, and displays an image, based on emission light from each of the liquid crystal panels. A display control circuit of the display device supplies image data of respective colors R, G, and B to the corresponding liquid crystal panels. A panel pixel having the lowest transmittance of three panel pixels corresponding to white-side pixels at domain boundaries is regarded as a reference panel pixel. The display control circuit reduces a gray scale level of pixel data supplied to two panel pixels other than the reference panel pixel of the three panel pixels. With this, coloring of the white-side pixels can be suppressed.

Control method for display device and display device

When, in a liquid crystal projector, optical responsiveness of a liquid crystal panel corresponding to G is better than optical responsiveness of a liquid crystal panel corresponding to R, a display control circuit performs a tr correction and a tf correction of overdrive processing for R, and performs only the tr correction of the overdrive process for G, and does not perform the tf correction for G. The display control circuit performs a black floating process for R, G, and B.

Liquid crystal projector

In a liquid crystal projector, in a first liquid crystal panel corresponding to a first color, a gray scale level specified by video data specifies a first value in a first field, and a second value in a second field subsequent to the first field, and in a second liquid crystal panel corresponding to a second color, a gray scale level specified by the video data specifies the first value in the first field, and the second value in the second field. When optical responsiveness of the first liquid crystal panel is better than optical responsiveness of the second liquid crystal panel, in the second field, a liquid crystal voltage applied to the first liquid crystal panel is smaller than a liquid crystal voltage applied to the second liquid crystal panel.

A liquid crystal display device is configured so that one frame is divided into two fields and a pixel of a liquid crystal panel is driven. The liquid crystal display device performs overdrive when a gray-scale level to be supplied to the pixel is different between a previous frame and a current frame. The liquid crystal display writes a voltage corresponding to the gray-scale level of the pixel with a positive voltage in a first field, and writes a voltage corresponding to the gray-scale level to be supplied to the pixel with a negative voltage in a second field. When performing overdrive, the liquid crystal display device performs overdrive in both of the first field and the second field. Also, when performing overdrive, the liquid crystal display device corrects the gray-scale level to be supplied to the pixel.

A liquid crystal display device supplies an active scan signal to each scan line while skipping a portion of a plurality of the scan lines, per one horizontal scan period, in a direction of the m-th to the first scan lines, by a first scan line drive circuit, and supplies the active scan signal to each scan line while skipping the portion of the plurality of the scan lines, per one horizontal scan period, in a direction of the m+1-th to the 2m-th scan lines, by a second scan line drive circuit. Therefore, the liquid crystal display device synchronizes with a timing of supplying the active signal with the first scan line drive circuit and the second scan line drive circuit, and supplies a data signal whose polarity is inverted to a positive polarity potential and a negative polarity potential per one horizontal scan period, to a data line.

A liquid crystal display device according to the invention has an effect that burn-in and a flicker do not occur. Dummy pixels are provided around pixels of the liquid crystal display device. A first voltage higher in order than a reference voltage and a second voltage lower in order than the first voltage are applied to a pixel electrode of a liquid crystal device included in the dummy pixel while being temporally shifted. The liquid crystal display device changes, on the basis of an electric current flowing to a second opposed electrode when the first voltage is applied and an electric current flowing to the second opposed electrode when the second voltage is applied, a ratio of effective voltages of a positive voltage and a negative voltage applied to a liquid crystal device included in the pixel that displays an image.
