The processing head includes a transfer optical system, and irradiates the guided laser beam to a surface of a workpiece to be processed by way of the transfer optical system.

A cam follower is supported on the valve lifter. The cam follower includes a slide surface having a pair of edges. The hydraulic pressure maintains the lock member in the unlocked position.

The lock device restricts the relative rotation of the second rotation member with respect to the first rotation member such that the vane is kept between the two recess walls when the engine is cranking. The lock device is released after the engine reaches a predetermined running condition.
