A rolling-sliding member that is high in hardness and continues to have a passivation film reliably even after being subjected to a process that does not require any processing for removal of scale etc., as well as a rolling bearing using the same and a method for manufacturing the rolling-sliding member.

An object of the invention is to provide a power transmission chain capable of effectively reducing noises and a power transmission assembly using the same. In the power transmission chain including plural links each possessing through-holes and plural pins inserted through the through-holes for interconnecting the plural links, all the plural pins substantially have the same longitudinal length while the plural pins include plural types of pins which have mutually different rigidities against force acting in the pin longitudinal direction. Furthermore, a locus of contact position between the pin and a strip is defined by an involute of a circle. The pins and strips are combined to form two or more types of pairs which provide the involutes of base circles having different radii.

A rolling bearing includes: outer and inner rings, at lease one of which is made of a ceramics; a plurality of rolling elements interposed between the outer and inner rings; a seal groove, a sectional shape in an axial direction of which is formed by substantially a partial circular arc, and which is formed on a shoulder portion of a raceway of one of the outer and inner rings; and a resin seal member including a peripheral edge portion fitted to the seal groove.

There is provided a rolling bearing which is capable of reducing vibrations and noise while satisfying requirements of high-speed rotation and prolonged life of grease. Balls are formed of a ceramic material whose major component is zirconia and which has a Young's modulus of 250 GPa or lower. The zirconia content of the ceramic material is not less than 80 wt %. The ceramic material is sintered by HIP. The balls are low in Young's modulus, allowing the contact surface pressure between rolling element and raceway to be lowered, so that the bearing can be reduced in vibrations and noise. Also, the bearing is high in durability because of HIP sintering.

In a method of lubrication between two sliding members at least one of which is made of a ceramic material, the improvement according to the present invention is characterized in that soot as produced by burning a hydrocarbon fuel is supplied between the two sliding members.

A rolling bearing suitable for use in a high temperature atmosphere is provided. The bearing is partly or entirely made of a ceramic material with at least its inner ring being made of a ceramic material so as to improve the rotational and antiabrasive efficiencies thereof in a high temperature operating condition. Further, in order to prevent both chamfered ends of the inner ring from cracking or chipping, the inner peripheral surface is crowned to have a Lundberg profile thereby avoiding a local concentration of stress on the inner ring.
