A surface-mount inductor includes an element assembly having a core, a coil, and a magnetic material; and a pair of external terminals on a mounting surface of the element assembly. The core has a base portion and a columnar portion on an upper surface of the base portion. The coil is disposed on the base portion, and has a wound portion on the columnar portion, and a pair of extended portions extended from the wound portion. The base portion has at least one ridge portion at which the upper surface and a side surface are in linear contact with each other. The pair of extended portions are each disposed such that a flat surface portion connected to a flat surface portion disposed at an inner side portion of a conductive wire located at an outer peripheral portion of the wound portion is close to the ridge portion.

Surface-mount inductor

A surface-mount inductor includes an element assembly having a core, a coil, and a magnetic material; and a pair of external terminals on a mounting surface of the element assembly. The core has a base portion and a columnar portion on an upper surface of the base portion. The coil is disposed on the base portion, and has a wound portion on the columnar portion, and a pair of extended portions extended from the wound portion. In a cross-section parallel to a winding axis, the wound portion has, in at least a part of a region where the upper stage and the lower stage are in contact with or oppose each other, a boundary surface formed by one portion of a conductive wire at one of upper and lower stage sides being in contact with or opposing a plurality of portions of the conductive wire at the other side.

A surface-mount inductor includes an element assembly having a core, a coil, and a magnetic material; and a pair of external terminals disposed on a mounting surface of the element assembly. The core has a base portion and a columnar portion on an upper surface of the base portion. The coil is disposed on the base portion, and has a wound portion on the columnar portion, and a pair of extended portions extended from the wound portion toward a side surface of the base portion. The magnetic material includes the coil and covers at least a part of the core. The external terminals are disposed on the mounting surface of the element assembly and connected to the extended portions. The surface-mount inductor has, on a surface at a mounting surface side of the wound portion, a curved portion that is curved toward a side opposite to the mounting surface.

A surface-mount inductor including a coil formed by winding a rectangular wire and a molded body for accommodating the coil, where the coil includes: a first roll formed by winding a rectangular wire, a second roll formed by winding the rectangular wire in position adjacent to the first roll along the winding axis, and a third roll formed by winding the rectangular wire on the second roll in a partially overlapping manner in a position adjacent to and opposite from the first roll along the winding axis, the ends of the wire being brought out from the outermost turns of the first roll and the third roll as lead ends, and the winding axis is parallel with the mounting face and the lead ends being extended over the surface of the molded body, as well as the method for manufacturing the same.

Method for manufacturing a surface-mount inductor

A surface-mount inductor including a coil formed by winding a rectangular wire, and a mounting body for accommodating the coil, the coil having first rolls of the wire wound in a two-roll arrangement, second rolls being wound at positions shifted away from the first rolls along the winding axis, and lead ends brought out from the outermost turn of the second rolls; the mounting body containing a protruded portion for inserting into the winding axis of the coil, and a pair of bottomed magnetic cores having slits respectively, the protruded portion being inserted into the winding axis of the coil so that the mounting body is embedded in the coil with sealant to incorporate the magnetic cores with the coil and to expose the core mounting face of the magnetic cores therefrom, as well as a method for manufacturing the same.

A surface-mount inductor having a molded body which includes a coil formed by winding a rectangular wire and sealed by sealant having resin and filler, a surface of the molded body being a mounting face, the coil includes: first rolls wound in two-roll arrangement along the winding axis, the ends of the wire being placed at the outermost turn; and second rolls wound in positions adjacent to the first rolls and oppositely shifted along the winding axis, the inner diameter being equal to or larger than the outer diameter of the first rolls, the ends of the wire are brought out from the outermost turn of the second rolls as lead ends which are sealed in a manner that the winding axis is parallel with the mounting face and the lead ends are partially exposed at the mounting face, as well as a method for manufacturing the same.

A surface-mount inductor having a coil formed by winding a wire and a molded body for accommodating the coil, wherein the coil includes: a pair of first rolls of wire of a rectangular section which are wound in a two-roll arrangement, both ends of the wire being positioned at their outermost turns; and a pair of second rolls wound in positions adjacent to and each on opposite sides of the first rolls to partially overlap the first rolls, whereby the ends of the wire are brought out from the outermost turns of the second rolls as lead ends, with winding axis of the coil being parallel with the molded body and the lead ends extending over the surface of the mounting face.
