A connector (C) having a housing (10) and latching member (50) is disclosed. The housing (10) and latching member (50) include cooperating latching devices (61,21) for retaining the two (10,50) together in a temporary position and other latching devices (17,63) for retaining the two (10,50) in a final position. The connector further includes cooperating prevention means located on the housing and on the latching member for preventing the latching member from being moved to the final position until the prevention means is operated.

Electrical connector with terminal retention member

An electrical connector comprises first and second connectors that must be completely mated and latched together before a fourth connector can be completely mated with a third connector. A checking means is located on the first connector and the fourth connector which prevents the fourth connector from being mated with the third connector when the second connector is missing from the first connector.

An electrical connector housing (10) for maintaining an electrical contact (2,6) in position in a contact-retaining passage (12,16) therein comprises locking members (20,30) hingedly mounted onto sides of the housing for closing locking openings (13a,13b,17a,17b) in the sides of the housing, the locking openings being in communication with the contact-retaining passage. Locking projections (21,22,31,32) are located on the locking members (20,30) for engagement with the contact (2,6) when the locking members (20,30) close the locking openings thereby maintaining the contact (2,6) in position in the passage (12,16). Resilient latching members (23,33) are provided on the locking members (20,30) and they include latching sections (23a,33a) that latchably engage with one another in the housing (10) when the locking members (20,30) are in a closed position thereby maintaining the locking members (20,30) in the closed position.

Double lock electrical connector

An electrical connector comprises a dielectric housing having passageways extending therethrough in which electrical contacts are positioned. Resilient latching arms are provided by the housing, and they have latching projections engaging the contacts thereby retaining the contacts in the passageways; the resilient latching arms having locking plate slots opposite the latching projections. Locking plate means is inserted into the housing into the locking plate slots limiting projections of the resilient arms thereby maintaining the latching projections in latching engagement with the contacts.
