A stay includes a first arm rotatably connected to any one of a body or a door openable to the body; a second arm, one end of the second arm being rotatably connected to the first arm and the other end being connected to any one of the body or the door. The first arm includes a resilient body, a slider urged by the resilient body to the second arm. A case slidably supports the slider toward the second arm, and a pressing part is abutted and pressured onto a cam face disposed to the second arm by the slider. An adjustment mechanism changes a pressing position between the cam face and the pressing part to a crossing direction with respect to a sliding direction of the slider and a rotation shaft axis direction of the second arm.

According to one embodiment, an electrode including an active material-containing layer and a film is provided. The active material-containing layer contains an active material containing a titanium-containing oxide. The film is present on at least a part of a surface of the active material-containing layer. The film contains fluorine, an organic atom, and a metal ion. The fluorine includes fluorine bonded to the organic atom and fluorine bonded to the metal ion. The film satisfies a relationship of following formula (1), where F1 is a proportion of the fluorine bonded to the organic atom, and F2 is a proportion of the fluorine bonded to the metal ion:0.1&#x2264;2/1&#x2264;0.6&#x2003;&#x2003;(1).

According to one embodiment, an electrode composite is provided. The electrode composite includes a negative electrode active material-containing layer and an insulating particle layer. The negative electrode active material-containing layer includes negative electrode active material secondary particles having an average secondary particle size of from 1 &#x3bc;m to 30 &#x3bc;m. The insulating particle layer is provided on the negative electrode active material-containing layer. The insulating particle layer includes a first surface and a second surface opposed to the first surface. The first surface is in contact with the negative electrode active material-containing layer. The second surface has a surface roughness of 0.1 &#x3bc;m or less.

According to one embodiment, there is provided a negative electrode. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode layer. The negative electrode layer contains a titanium composite oxide and a carboxymethyl-cellulose compound. The carboxymethyl-cellulose has a degree of etherification of 1 or more and 2 or less. The negative electrode layer has a density of 2.2 g/cmor more.

According to one embodiment, an electrode includes a current collector, an active material-containing layer, a first peak, a second peak and a pore volume. The active material-containing layer contains an active material having a lithium absorption potential of 0.4 V (vs. Li/Li) or more. The first peak has a mode diameter of 0.01 to 0.1 &#x3bc;m in a diameter distribution of pores detected by mercury porosimetry. The second peak has a mode diameter of 0.2 &#x3bc;m (exclusive) to 1 &#x3bc;m (inclusive) in the diameter distribution of pores. The pore volume detected by the mercury porosimetry is within a range of 0.1 to 0.3 mL per gram of a weight of the electrode excluding a weight of the current collector.

Electrolytic membrane, process for producing the same, membrane electrode assembly, fuel cell and method of operating the same

Disclosed is a fuel cell in the form of stacked unit cells each having a power generating section composed of a fuel electrode, an oxidant electrode, and an electrolyte plate held therebetween, which are placed on top of the other. In this fuel cell, a liquid fuel is introduced into each unit cell by the capillary action and evaporated in each unit cell in a fuel evaporating portion, so that the fuel electrode is supplied with the evaporated fuel.

The invention provides a fuel cell in which humidification control for maintaining adequate moisture in electrolyte membranes can be simplified. The fuel cell according to the invention is provided with a unit cell comprising a laminate of a plurality of power generation sections, each power generation section comprising a fuel electrode (anode), an oxidant electrode(cathode) and an electrolyte membrane interposed between the fuel electrode and the oxidant electrode(cathode), wherein the electrolyte membrane consists of a laminate comprising a film made of a proton-conducting organic compound, and a film made of a proton-conducting inorganic glass provided at least on the surface of the film of the proton-conducting organic compound facing the fuel electrode(anode).

A ceramic composite material comprises a ceramic material constituting a matrix, and dispersion particles disposed in the matrix in a dispersing manner. A specific shape of a ceramic composite material is, for instance, a sinter or a thermally sprayed layer. The dispersion particles are consisting of a composite oxide including at least one kind of a first metallic element selected from alkaline earth metals such as Mg and Ca, and at least one kind of a second metallic element selected from W, Ti, Ta, Mo, Nb, V, B, Te, Ge and Si, for instance, are composite oxide particles precipitated by reacting a compound containing a first metallic element and a compound including a second metallic element through heat treatment. The precipitated particles consisting of such a composite oxide can be dispersed as planar particles or acicular particles in the ceramic layer to which, for instance, thermal spraying is applied. The dispersion particles suppress deterioration of strength or toughness of the oxide based ceramic material under high temperature atmosphere.

A gas turbine apparatus having a plurality of stages of rotor.stator blade and utilizing fuel containing 0.5 ppm or more of vanadium. A plurality of stages of the rotor.stator blade have a stage which is driven by combustion gas not including vanadium corrosion suppressing agent and a stage which is driven by combustion gas including vanadium corrosion suppressing agent and is controlled in its combustion gas temperature at below 1,458 K. In addition, the plurality of stages of the gas turbine are supplied with different kinds of combustion gases according to the temperature of each stage. Or, by disposing at least two systems of fuel supplying mechanism to one combustion chamber, the combustion temperature is controlled according to the kinds and the mixing ratio of the fuels. Therewith, while suppressing corrosion of high temperature member due to V and S, the deposition of the reaction products due to the vanadium corrosion suppressing agent and the like can be suppressed. Thereby, the system availability ratio can be improved and long life of the gas turbine can be realized. Further, due to high combustion gas temperature, efficiency can be enhanced.

A ceramic coating layer which is not less than 70 .mu.m in the maximum height Rmax of its profile curves and not less than 45 .mu.m in the 10-point average roughness, or which is less than 650 HV in Vickers hardness is provided on a metallic substrate. A heat-resistant member of such composition is excellent in thermal fatigue resistance and keeps an excellent heat resistance for a long period of time. Quality of a heat-resistant member is evaluated by, measuring at least one of roughness and hardness of a ceramic coating layer on a metallic substrate. According to this method, it is possible to easily and accurately evaluate a thermal resistant life of a heat-resistant member.
