There is provided an optical waveguide which has appropriate orientation properties, a production process of which is simple so as to be suitable for producing an electro-optical element, and is able to reduce power consumption of the element due to excellent electro-optical properties, and further can be formed into a thin film and be layered; and a material for the optical waveguide. A cladding material of an optical waveguide, characterized by comprising a polymer compound including a triarylamine structure, and a nonlinear optical compound; and an optical waveguide produced by using the cladding material.

The present invention provides a lithium-air secondary battery that is capable of effectively preventing deterioration of an alkaline electrolytic solution, air electrode, and negative electrode and has a long life and high long-term reliability. The lithium-air secondary battery comprises an air electrodefunctioning as a positive electrode, an anion exchangerprovided in close contact with one side of the air electrode and composed of a hydroxide-ion conductive inorganic solid electrolyte, a separatorprovided away from the anion exchanger and composed of a lithium-ion conductive inorganic solid electrolyte, a negative electrodeprovided so as to be capable of supplying and receiving lithium ions to and from the separator and comprising lithium, and an alkaline electrolytic solutionfilled between the anion exchanger and the separator.

Lithium air secondary battery

Provide is a zinc secondary battery capable of preventing a short circuit between the positive and negative electrodes caused by zinc dendrites. The zinc secondary battery of the present invention comprises a positive electrode; a negative electrode containing zinc; an electrolytic solution in which the positive electrode and the negative electrode are immersed or with which the positive electrode and the negative electrode are in contact, wherein the electrolytic solution is an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal hydroxide; and a separator being placed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode and separating the positive electrode and the negative electrode from each other, wherein the separator comprises an inorganic solid electrolyte body having hydroxide ion conductivity.

Zinc secondary battery

An all-solid-state cell contains a combination of an electrode active material and a solid electrolyte, and has a plate-shaped fired solid electrolyte body of a ceramic containing a solid electrolyte, a first electrode layer (e.g. a positive electrode) integrally formed on one surface of the fired solid electrolyte body by mixing and firing an electrode active material and a solid electrolyte, and a second electrode layer (e.g. a negative electrode) integrally formed on the other surface of the fired solid electrolyte body by mixing and firing an electrode active material and a solid electrolyte. The solid electrolyte materials added to the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer comprise an amorphous polyanion compound.

All-solid-state cell

An all-solid-state cell has a fired solid electrolyte body, a first electrode layer integrally formed on one surface of the fired solid electrolyte body by mixing and firing an electrode active material and a solid electrolyte, and a second electrode layer integrally formed on the other surface of the fired solid electrolyte body by mixing and firing an electrode active material and a solid electrolyte. The first and the second electrode layers are formed by mixing and firing the electrode active material and the amorphous solid electrolyte, which satisfy the relation Ty&#x3e;Tz (wherein Ty is a temperature at which the capacity of the electrode active material is lowered by reaction between the electrode active material and the solid electrolyte material, and Tz is a temperature at which the solid electrolyte material is shrunk by firing).

Provided is a zinc-air secondary battery capable of preventing both of the short-circuiting between positive and negative electrodes caused by zinc dendrites and the carbon dioxide incorporation. This zinc-air secondary battery includes an air electrode () functioning as a positive electrode; an inorganic solid electrolyte body () provided in direct contact with one side of the air electrode and having hydroxide ion conductivity; a metal negative electrode () provided opposite to the air electrode with respect to the inorganic solid electrolyte body and comprising zinc or a zinc alloy; and an electrolyte solution in which the metal negative electrode is immersed, the electrolyte solution being separated from the air electrode by the inorganic solid electrolyte body.

Zinc-air secondary battery having inorganic solid electrolyte body

A first fine particle-containing solution is deposited on an appropriate substrate, and dried to form a first fine particle aggregate layer. Polymer particles are deposited on the first fine particle aggregate layer, and are supplied with a second fine particle-containing solution such that the polymer particles are immersed in the second fine particle-containing solution. The second fine particle-containing solution is dried to form a second fine particle aggregate layer containing a large number of the polymer particles embedded. A first structure precursor is completed at this stage. Then, the first structure precursor is separated from the substrate, and thermally treated. Thus, the production of a first solid electrolyte structure, which has a porous solid electrolyte portion and a dense solid electrolyte portion integrated, is completed.

Method for producing solid electrolyte structure with porous portion and dense portion

A first paste for a first electrode layer and a second paste for a second electrode layer are printed on a fired solid electrolyte by screen printing, etc. to form electrode patterns for forming the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer. The first and second pastes can be prepared by dissolving a binder in an organic solvent, adding an appropriate amount of the obtained solution to powders of an electrode active substance material and a solid electrolyte material, and kneading the resultant mixture. The first and second pastes are applied to the fired solid electrolyte to form a cell precursor, the cell precursor is placed in a hot press mold subjected to a thermal treatment while pressing from above by a punch, whereby the first and second electrode layer are formed from the first and second pastes.

A solid electrolyte structure () for all-solid-state batteries includes a plate-like dense body () formed of a ceramic that includes a solid electrolyte, and a porous layer () formed of a ceramic that includes a solid electrolyte that is the same as or different from the solid electrolyte of the dense body (), the porous layer () being integrally formed on at least one surface of the dense body () by firing. The solid electrolyte structure can reduce the contact resistance at the interface between the solid electrolyte and an electrode.

Solid electrolyte structure for all-solid-state battery, all-solid-state battery, and their production methods

There is disclosed a small and thin ink jet head having an excellent productivity, in which Piezoelectric elements capable of developing a large displacement amount and a high displacement generation force can highly densely be arranged together with ink chambers and nozzles and in which generation of crosstalk is inhibited. A discharge device comprises a channel section in which a plurality of channels are formed, each channel having an introduction hole, a pressurizing chamber and a discharge hole; and an actuator section having a top plate, a pair of support walls arranged at opposite ends of the top plate and a plurality of piezoelectric elements hanging from the top plate, spread between the pair of support walls, arranged independently of one another and forming pairs with the channels.

Even in a case where an amount of liquid droplets is of a nanoliter (nl) order, excellent stability and reproducibility are attained, and the unit can stably be operated when attached to an apparatus.

Liquid drop discharge piezoelectric device

An all-solid battery having a high output power is provided which exhibits high safety and is capable of being produced at a low cost is provided. The all-solid battery includes an internal electrode body having a cathode comprising a cathode material, an anode comprising an anode material, and a solid electrolyte layer comprising a solid electrolyte. The cathode material, the anode material, and the solid electrolyte are phosphoric acid compounds. The internal electrode body is integrated by firing the cathode, the anode, and the solid electrolyte layer, and the internal electrode body contains water.

All-solid-state battery

A cell driving type piezoelectric actuator comprising: a plurality of cell driving bodies each comprising a wall portion, a cell formed by the wall portion, a piezoelectric body formed on at least one of wall portions and at least one pair of electrodes formed on the piezoelectric body; said piezoelectric operation portion being capable of changing a volume of the cell on which said piezoelectric operation portion is formed by its displacement, wherein the piezoelectric actuator comprises at least one pair of support bodies, the plurality of cell driving bodies are formed completely independent of one another and are connected to one another through at least one pair of support bodies, and the cell driving bodies and the support bodies are integrally formed by firing a green body of said piezoelectric actuator. A method for manufacturing the same is also disclosed.

A piezoelectric/electrostrictive film device is provided, including a piezoelectric/electrostrictive layer and at least a pair of electrodes formed on the piezoelectric/electrostrictive layer. A perovskite piezoelectric/electrostrictive material of the piezoelectric/electrostrictive layer contains Pb, and the perovskite piezoelectric/electrostrictive material contains MnOin an amount of 0.1 to 0.5% by weight. Specifically, the perovskite piezoelectric/electrostrictive material contains Pb(MgNb)O&#x2014;PbZrO&#x2014;PbTiOin which a part of Pb is substituted with Sr.

Piezoelectric/electrostrictive film device

A piezoelectric/electrostrictive device is provided, including a ceramic substrate having at least one piezoelectric/electrostrictive layer made of a piezoelectric/electrostrictive ceramic composition and at least one pair of electrodes electrically connected to the piezoelectric/electrostrictive layer formed thereon. The piezoelectric/electrostrictive ceramic composition contains a PbMgNbO&#x2014;PbZrO&#x2014;PbTiOsystem composition as a major component, wherein part of Pb is substituted with at least one of Sr and La, and contains Ce in an amount of 0.01 to 0.50% by mass in terms of CeO. The piezoelectric/electrostrictive layer is solidly attached to the substrate directly or via part of the electrodes.
