A SOx concentration acquiring apparatus of an internal combustion engine of the invention acquires sensor currents as SOx concentration currents after a sensor voltage reaches an oxygen decreasing voltage in a reoxidation voltage decreasing control, acquires the sensor current as a base current when the sensor voltage is equal to or lower than the oxygen decreasing voltage in the reoxidation voltage decreasing control, acquires an integration value of differences between the base current and each of the SOx concentration currents, and acquires a SOx concentration of an exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine on the basis of the integration value.

A gas detector includes a measurement control section that controls a voltage application section, obtains an output current flowing between a first electrode and a second electrode of an electrochemical cell, and detects a concentration of sulfur oxides in exhaust gas based on the output current. The measurement control section uses a minimum value of the output current obtained by using a current detection section in a period in which lowering sweep is executed and in which an applied voltage is a voltage within a detection voltage range that is equal to or lower than a decomposition initiation voltage of sulfur oxides as a parameter used for detection of the concentration of sulfur oxides.

Gas detector

An electronic central unit is configured to control a voltage application device to execute applied voltage sweep and obtain an output current that flows between a first electrode and a second electrode of an electrochemical cell. The electronic control unit is configured to detect either one of presence or absence of sulfur oxides in a specified concentration or higher in exhaust gas and a concentration of sulfur oxides in the exhaust gas based on the output current. The electronic control unit is configured to execute one of a specified determination and a specified detection based on a specified parameter. A gas detection device includes a voltage applying unit configured to apply a voltage across a first electrode and a second electrode of an electrochemical cell and a measurement control unit configured to perform a first application voltage sweep and a second application voltage sweep which have different sweeping voltage ranges, to acquire a first parameter based on the output current of the first application voltage sweep, to acquire a second parameter based on the output current of the second application voltage sweep, to calculate a SOx detection parameter which is a difference or a ratio between the first parameter and the second parameter, and to perform determination of whether sulfur oxides with a predetermined concentration or higher are contained in an exhaust gas or detection of a concentration of sulfur oxides in the exhaust gas based on the SOx detection parameter.

A control system for an engine including a limiting current sensor, the control system includes an ECU configured to: execute a sweep process for gradually reducing a voltage that is applied to the sensor from a first voltage a second voltage; acquire an extreme value of an output current of the sensor during execution of the sweep process from output currents of the sensor while a voltage included in a specific voltage range is applied to the sensor, the extreme value being predicted to be output; and detect the concentration of SOx in exhaust gas based on the extreme value and a reference value, the reference value being a value of limiting current of the sensor, the value of limiting current of the sensor corresponding to the concentration of oxygen having the constant value.

Control system and control method for internal combustion engine

A sulfur oxide detection system includes an element part which includes a sensor cell and a diffusion regulating layer. The sensor cell includes a solid electrolyte layer, a first electrode arranged, and a second electrode. The sulfur oxide detection system also includes a voltage application circuit configured to apply a voltage to the sensor cell so that a potential of the second electrode becomes higher than a potential of the first electrode, and a current detection circuit configured to detect a current flowing between the first electrode and the second electrode. The sulfur oxide detection system further includes a controller coupled with the voltage application circuit and the current detection circuit, and configured to estimate a sulfur oxide concentration in a gas to which the first electrode is exposed by way of the diffusion layer.

Sulfur oxide detection system

An internal combustion engine control device for a dual-injection internal combustion engine acquires first and second increase values, which are fuel increase ratios according to respective alcohol concentrations of a fuel injected by cylinder injection and a fuel injected by port injection. The control device determines a basic total injection amount of fuel that should be supplied to each cylinder in the case where the alcohol concentration of the fuel is zero. An amount of fuel injected from a cylinder injection valve is determined as if the alcohol concentration of the fuel were zero. A total injection amount is to correspond to an amount in accordance with the basic total injection amount and both, the first increase value and the second increase value, so that the increase in injected fuel amount is borne by port injection.

Internal combustion engine control device

The sulfur oxides detection system includes a device part comprising a first electrochemical cell having a first solid electrolyte layer, a first electrode, and a second electrode; and a diffusion regulating layer. A power supply supplying voltage is provided between the electrodes as well as a detector detecting a first current correlation parameter, and a control part controlling the power supply and acquiring the first current correlation parameter. The control part controls the power supply so that a first voltage is applied between the electrodes and calculates a concentration of sulfur oxides in the measured gas based on the first current correlation parameter detected by the detector when the first voltage is applied between the electrodes, but it does not calculate the concentration of sulfur oxides in the measured gas when it judges that a concentration of water in the measured gas is not stable.

Sulfur oxides detection system

In a limited-current type gas sensor which detects oxygen-containing gas contained in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, the decomposition current value of water (HO) may be detected, and existence of an abnormality of output characteristics of the sensor may be diagnosed based on its deviation from a reference decomposition current value of water corresponding to the concentration of water contained in the exhaust gas. A NOx sensor and a SOx sensor can also diagnose remarkable and minute abnormalities of output characteristics. In addition, the reference decomposition current value of water may be acquired based on the concentration of water detected by a separate humidity sensor or the decomposition current value of oxygen detected by the limited-current type gas sensor. The reference decomposition current value of water may be corrected based on a decomposition current value of oxygen detected during a fuel cut.
