A fuel tank comprises an upper-half tank body () and a lower-half tank body () which are made of bowl-shaped steel plates and which integrally include a flange () and a flange () in their peripheral edges, respectively, the flanges () being superposed on and liquid-tightly connected to each other. The flanges () are connected together by crimping into a roll shape to form an annular thick-walled connection (), and an annular reinforcing rib () leading to the connection () is formed at least in one of the upper-half and lower-half tank bodies (). Thus, it is possible to provide a fuel tank in which a sufficient strength can be imparted to portions around a flange connection, without particularly increasing the thickness of a steel plate.

An engine air cleaner includes a cleaner element unit is housed within the upper cover body, and a skirt wall of the upper cover body extends further downward than the suction opening. A seal packing and the cleaner element unit are superimposed and fitted onto an outer periphery of an intake passage within the cleaner cover body. The seal packing is provided with a retaining projection that is tightly engaged with the intake passage. An air cleaner is disposed to be side by side with one side of the engine, a lower part of the cleaner cover body is joined integrally to and supported on the engine together with a carburetor via a pair of connecting bolts, and a reinforcing vertical wall portion of the cleaner cover body facing the engine across a gap is joined integrally to and supported on the engine via another connecting bolt.

A muffler unit for a general-purpose engine includes a muffler () having a maze of sound-deadening chambers () defined therein and an inlet pipe () disposed inside the muffler. The inlet pipe has an open end () connected to an exhaust port of the engine via an exhaust pipe (), a closed end () opposite to the open end, and perforations () provided near the open end and connecting an internal space of the inlet pipe and a first sound-deadening chamber (). The closed end of the inlet pipe is exposed to the outside air, so that exhaust gasses are cooled when the gasses impinge on the closed end of the inlet pipe.

An air-cooled engine () has a fan cover () for covering a cooling fan (). The cover () is composed of a fan-cover peripheral wall () for covering the outside of the cooling fan (), and a top board () for closing off one end of the fan-cover peripheral wall (). The fan-cover peripheral wall () has an internally disposed guiding duct () for guiding cooling air (Wi) from the cooling fan () to an engine main body (). A first fastening member () secures a portion of the external part of the fan-cover peripheral wall () that is proximal to the guiding duct () to a casing () of the engine main body (). A second fastening member () extends from the casing () and through the fan-cover peripheral wall (), and secures a top board () in a portion that is at a distance from the guiding duct ().

In a general purpose engine, a crankcase is formed from a case main body and a cover secured to the case main body, and a bearing support member is disposed between a drive transmission wheel and a crank web that is at one end in the axial direction. The bearing support member is formed into a shape that allows oil held within the crankcase to flow between opposite sides of the bearing support member and is mounted on the case main body.

An optical lens assembly containing a plural number of lens elements for an optical system to be incorporated into a tip end portion of an endoscopic insertion instrument. Of a plural number of lenses which constitute an optical system, a metal film layer is formed on confronting outer peripheral surface portions of at least two adjacently located lenses, outside respective effective lens areas, and the two adjacently located lenses are assembled and fixedly bonded together by applying solder to the outer peripheral surface portions with a metal film layer.

In joining an angle section with an elongated flexible body of an endoscopic insertion instrument, a connector ring on the side of the angle section and a connector ring on the side of the flexible body are connected by fitting engagement, one connector ring on the outer side of the other connector ring. A number of inwardly projecting ridges are provided on the inner periphery of the inner connector ring, and screw holes are bored radially through the inwardly projecting ridges. On the other hand, a number of perforations are provided in the outer connector ring at positions corresponding to the screw holes in the inner connector ring. Screw members are threaded into the respective screw holes of the inner connector ring through the perforations in the outer connector ring. Further, a screw anchor ring is slidably fitted on the outer connector ring. The screw anchor ring can be shifted to and from a covering position to close on head portions of the screw members and an uncovering position to uncover and expose head portions of the screw members.

A lawn mower has a cutter blade rotatable in a substantially horizontal plane, and a cutter housing with the cutter blade being rotatably accommodated therein, the cutter housing comprising an upper wall having a raised scroll, and a circumferential wall having a discharge duct contiguous to the scroll and defining a discharge port. A first inner member is detachably disposed along inner surfaces of the upper and circumferential walls of the cutter housing, the first inner member having an inner surface of arcuate cross section. A second inner member is detachably disposed in the discharge duct contiguously to the first inner member in closing relationship to the discharge port, the second inner member being separate from the first inner member and having an inner surface of arcuate cross section.
