Disclosed is a compound which has both an angiotensin-II receptor antagonistic activity and a PPAR&#x3b3; activation activity and is useful as a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for hypertension, heart diseases, angina pectoris, cerebrovascular disorders, cerebral circulatory disorders, ischemic peripheral circulatory disorders, renal diseases, arteriosclerosis, inflammatory diseases, type-2 diabetes, diabetic complications, insulin resistance syndrome, syndrome X, metabolic syndrome and hyperinsulinemia. To provide an effective and simple process for producing 4-fluoroisoquinoline-5-sulfonylhalide or a salt thereof, and a simple method for separating for purification of the product from a by-produced position isomer thereof. The process for producing 4-fluoroisoquinoline-5-sulfonyl halide or a salt thereof, characterized in that the process includes reacting 4-fluoroisoquinoline or a salt thereof with sulfuric anhydride in the presence or absence of sulfuric acid, to thereby form 4-fluoroisoquinoline-5-sulfonic acid or a salt thereof, and, subsequently, reacting the formed sulfonic acid compound with a halogenating reagent.

The present invention is directed to (S)-(&#x2212;)-1-(4-fluoroisoquinolin-5-yl)sulfonyl-2-methyl-1,4-homopiperazine hydrochloride dihydrate, to a method producing the dihydrate, and to a drug composition containing the dihydrate. The compound of the present invention has less hygroscopicity as compared with (S)-(&#x2212;)-1-(4-fluoroisoquinolin-5-yl)sulfonyl-2-methyl-1,4-homopiperazine hydrochloride anhydrous crystals and thus, exhibits excellent chemical stability.

The medicine according to the present invention is endowed with excellent antileukotriene activity and antihistaminic activity, and is useful for the prevention and treatment of, for example, asthma.

Tetrazole derivatives

The medicine according to the present invention is endowed with excellent antileukotriene activity and antihistaminic activity, and is useful for the prevention and treatment of, for example, asthma.

The present invention is directed to a piperidine derivative represented by the following formula (1) or a salt thereof: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 individually represent hydrogen atoms, etc., Y represents ##STR2## B represents a single bond, an alkylene group, --S--CH.sub.2 --, or --CH.dbd.CH--, E represents a single bond or a trimethylene group, Z represents an oxygen atom, etc., and n represents a number between 2 and 5 inclusive; and to a medicine containing the compound. The medicine according to the present invention is endowed with excellent anti-histaminic activity and antileukotriene activity, and exhibits reduced side effects such as drowsiness.

This invention relates to a phenylene derivative represented by the following formula (1) or a salt thereof and also to a medicine containing it as an effective ingredient. ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents H or halogen; A represents --CH.dbd.CH--, --CH.dbd.N--, --N(R.sup.2)--, --O-- or --S--; W represents --CH.dbd.CH-- or --CH.sub.2 O--; X represents --CH.sub.2 O--, --CH.sub.2 S--, --CH.sub.2 N(R.sup.3)--, --CH.dbd.N--, --COO-- or --CONH--; Y represents ##STR2## B.sup.1 represents --C(R.sup.7)(R.sup.8)(CH.sub.2).sub.l --, --S(O).sub.m (CH.sub.2).sub.n -- or --CH.dbd.C(R.sup.9)--; B.sup.2 represents --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --; Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 each represents O or S; etc. The phenylene derivative or salt thereof has antileukotrienic action and antihistaminic action and is useful as a medicine such as an asthma preventive or curative.

Phenylene derivatives

This invention relates to a phenylene derivative represented by the following formula (1) or a salt thereof and also to a medicine containing it as an effective ingredient. ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents H or halogen; A represents --CH.dbd.CH--, --CH.dbd.N--, --N(R.sup.2)--, --O-- or --S--; W represents --CH.dbd.CH-- or --CH.sub.2 O--; X represents --CH.sub.2 O--, --CH.sub.2 S--, --CH.sub.2 N(R.sup.3)--, --CH.dbd.N--, --COO-- or --CONH--; Y represents ##STR2## B.sup.1 represents --C(R.sup.7)(R.sup.8)(CH.sub.2).sub.l, --S(O).sub.m (CH.sub.2).sub.n -- or --CH.dbd.C(R.sup.9)--; B.sup.2 represents --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --; Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 each represents O or S; etc. The phenylene derivative or salt thereof has antileukotrienic action and antihistaminic action and is useful as a medicine such as an asthma preventive or curative.

Quinoline derivatives or salt thereof and remedy for cardiac diseases

An indole derivative represented by formula (1), ##STR1## wherein A is a group ##STR2## wherein R.sup.10 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, dotted lines may optionally be present, and R.sup.1 -R.sup.9 represents various substitutional groups. The compound (1) exhibits a positive inotropic action on cardiac muscle, an anti-arrhythmic action, and a vasodilation action without increasing the heart rate. A heart affection therapeutic agent comprising this compound as an effective component is extremely effective for treating heart failures and arrhythmia.

A benzopylpiperazine ester of the following formula: ##STR1## wherein A represents a single bond or an alkylene group, vinylene group, --O--alkylene group or methine group, R.sub.1 represents a bicyclic carbon ring residue which may be substituted with a lower alkyl group, lower alkoxy group, oxo group or nitro group or a halogen atom, or may be partially saturated; a fluorene residue which may contain an oxo group; a fluorenylidene group; an anthracene residue; a phenanthrene residue which may be substituted with a lower alkyl group, or may be partially saturated; a benzofuran residue or thianaphthene residue which may be substituted with a lower alkyl group or lower alkoxy group; a benzopyran residue or benzoazine residue which may be substituted with an oxo group or phenyl group and partially saturated; a phthalimide residue; a benzodiazine residue; an isozazole residue which may be substituted with a lower alkyl group or phenyl group; or an alkylene dioxybenzene residue or xanthene residue; and R.sub.2 represents an alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, cycloalkylalkyl group or aralkyl group, excepting the case where A is a single bond, R.sub.1 is ##STR2## and R.sub.2 is a methyl group, exhibits excellent chymotrypsin inhibitive activity.
