A first valve element () and second valve element () are arranged in a pressure switching chamber () of a three-way valve (). When switching a destination of a fuel flow passage () from a high pressure fuel feed passage () to a low pressure fuel return passage (), the state where the first valve element () is open and the second valve element () is closed is switched through a state where the first valve element () and second valve element () are both closed to a state where the first valve element () is closed and the second valve element () is open. Fuel pressure of a pressure control port () sealed by a sliding seal face () formed at an outer circumference of the second valve element () is used to control an opening timing of a needle valve ().

Fuel injection system

A fuel injection valve () with a pressure boosting unit is provided in an engine (), and boosted pressure fuel injection is performed by increasing a pressure of fuel supplied to a fuel injection valve from a common rail (). An ECU () decides a pressure boosting period that is defined as a time period from when the pressure of the fuel starts to be boosted until when the fuel injection is started using a numerical table in which a fuel injection amount and an engine rotational speed are used as parameters, and sets fuel injection control parameters such as a fuel injection period and pressure boosting starting timing, based on the pressure boosting period. Since the fuel injection control parameters are set based on the pressure boosting period, the control that is performed when the boosted pressure fuel injection is performed is simplified.

Pressure boosting common rail fuel injection apparatus and fuel injection control method therefor

A fuel injection valve includes a fuel injection port, a needle for cutting the fuel flow into the fuel injection port and a needle mover for moving the needle away from the fuel injection port and allowing the fuel to flow into the fuel injection port. When the needle is moved away from the fuel injection port by the needle mover, the force is applied by a force applicator to the needle away from the fuel injection port only during the period when the needle is moved away from the fuel injection port to less than a predetermined degree.

Fuel injection valve

When a needle is separated from a needle seat, upward pressure of pressurized fuel is applied to downward pressure receiving surface outer portion and an annular downward pressure receiving surface inner portion. A bottom portion side extending portion is provided, which extends in a direction of a longitudinal axis K&#x2014;K from a needle bottom surface inner portion, which is a portion of a bottom surface of the needle on an inner side of the annular seal, into a sack beyond a nozzle chamber. When the needle is separated from the needle seat, an area of the downward pressure receiving surface inner portion to which the upward pressure of the pressurized fuel is applied is decreased by a cross sectional area of the bottom portion side extending portion.

A device provided with a fuel injector and a reservoir for temporarily storing the fuel to be fed to the fuel injector. Fuel is injected at least two times in one engine cycle. Pulsation of fuel occurring in the fuel injector due to a prior fuel injection is propagated to the reservoir, reflected at the reservoir, and returns to the fuel injector. Due to the effects of the returned pulsation, the fuel injection amount in the later fuel injection fluctuates. The opening timing of the fuel injector and the fuel injection pressure are employed as parameters affecting the fuel injection amount in the later fuel injection, the amounts of fluctuation of the parameters due to the pulsation are estimated, and a control value relating to the operation of the fuel injector is controlled based on the estimated amounts of fluctuation of the parameters so that a target amount of fuel is injected from the fuel injector.

Fuel injection device of an engine

A common rail fuel injection apparatus includes a piston that increases the injection pressure, and a chamber that controls the position of the piston so as to control the injection pressure. An input constriction that sets an amount of flow of the fuel that enters the control chamber, and an output constriction that sets an amount of flow of the fuel that exits from the chamber are formed. The input constriction is connected to a common rail by a valve. By opening and closing the valve, the injection pressure of the fuel injected from an injector is changed. Therefore, the injection pressure of fuel injected from the injector can be changed as requested without a need to process high precision component parts.

Common rail fuel injection apparatus and control method thereof

Injectors are connected to a common rail via respective dispensing conduits A mixture of a liquid fuel fed from a liquid fuel tank and an additional fluid fed from an additional fluid tank is formed, and is fed to the common rail The additional fluid contained in the mixture is turned to its supercritical state, and the mixture is injected from the injectors to the engine. The inlets of the dispensing conduits are positioned, with respect to the common rail to open out into a liquid fuel layer which will be formed in the common rail when a separation of the mixture occurs.
