A rotation angle detection device includes: a rotating body having magnetic tracks on which magnetic pole pairs are arranged at even intervals in concentric ring shapes; magnetic sensors each configured to detect a magnetic field of a corresponding one of the magnetic tracks and output a sine signal and a cosine signal; storage configured to store magnetic sensor correction information; a correction calculator configured to correct the sine signal and the cosine signal based on the magnetic sensor correction information; a phase detector configured to calculate a phase of the corrected sine signal and the corrected cosine signal; a phase difference detector configured to calculate a phase difference between a plurality of the phases; and an angle calculator configured to convert the phase difference into an absolute angle.

Rotation angle detection device and rotation angle detection method

There are provided a relative angle detection device suitable for expanding a torque detection range, and a torque sensor, an electric power steering device and a vehicle including the relative angle detection device. Based on a first sine signal representing sin(&#x3b8;os+&#x394;&#x3b8;) and a first cosine signal representing cos(&#x3b8;os+&#x394;&#x3b8;) in accordance with a rotation angle(&#x3b8;is) of a first multipolar ring magnet that synchronously rotates with an input shaft from between the coaxially arranged input shaft and an output shaft, and based on a second sine signal representing sin &#x3b8;os and a second cosine signal representing cos &#x3b8;os in accordance with a rotation angle(&#x3b8;os) of a second multipolar ring magnet that synchronously rotates with the output shaft, sin &#x394;&#x3b8; and cos &#x394;&#x3b8; are calculated in accordance with a relative angle(&#x394;&#x3b8;) between the input shaft and the output shaft, and from &#x394;&#x3b8;=arctan(sin &#x394;&#x3b8;/cos &#x394;&#x3b8;), the relative angle(&#x394;&#x3b8;) is calculated.

A resolver device includes a stator core and a rotor core supported so as to be freely rotatable with respect to the stator core and configured such that a reluctance component in a gap between the rotor core and the stator core changes in accordance with a relative angle position to the stator core. The stator core includes stator main poles and stator interpoles.

A sensor () arranged in a deep groove ball bearing () includes an encoder () attached at an inner ring () to be rotatable integrally with the inner ring (), and a magnetism detecting element () attached at an outer ring () via a sensor housing () to face the encoder () with a sensor gap. Then, the magnetism detecting element () is capable of measuring a rotating state of the encoder () rotating in the rotating state identical to that of the inner ring () in conjunction with a rotation of the inner ring (). The deep groove ball bearing () includes a foreign material entering prevention portion that prevents a foreign material from entering the inside of the bearing from a gap between the inner ring () and the sensor housing (). The size of the gap between the inner ring () and the sensor housing () is substantially identical to the sensor gap between the magnetism detecting element () and the encoder (), and the gap configures non-contact seal and functions as the foreign material entering prevention portion.
