An Al&#x2014;Si&#x2014;Fe-based aluminum alloy casting material that is excellent in elongation while having characteristics of high rigidity and a method for producing the same are provided. The Al&#x2014;Si&#x2014;Fe-based aluminum alloy casting material has a composition that includes: Si, a content of which is 12.0% by mass or more and 25.0% by mass or less; Fe, a content of which is 0.48% by mass or more and 4.0% by mass or less; Cr, a content of which is 0.17% by mass or more and 5.0% by mass or less; and a remainder composed of Al and unavoidable impurities. The casting material includes a structure, in which a Si-based crystallized product surrounds an Al&#x2014;Cr&#x2014;Si-based compound.

A support frame for a pellicle includes a frame body made of an aluminum alloy. The frame body has: a top surface onto which a pellicle film is bonded; and an underside surface onto which a transparent substrate is bonded. A material of which the frame body is made has a Young's modulus larger than that of which the transparent substrate is made. The structure described above makes it possible to reduce deformation of the transparent substrate.

A manufacturing method of an inexpensive aluminum alloy that allows fine crystallization of the Al&#x2014;Fe&#x2014;Si compound and primary Si by employing a convenient and efficient means. A method of production of inexpensive aluminum alloy is provided which enables precipitation of fine particles of Al&#x2014;Fe&#x2014;Si-based compounds and primary crystal Si to an aluminum alloy melt which is comprised of Si: 10 to 20 mass %, Fe: 0.5 to 4 mass %, P: 0.003 to 0.02 mass %, and further, if necessary, one or more of Mn, Ni, and Cr or furthermore, if necessary, one or more of Mg, Ti, Cr, Zr, and V, and has a balance of Al and unavoidable impurities. To the melt is added 0.01 to 1 mass %, in terms of silicide, of a substance, which includes fine particles of a metal silicide which are present as a solid phase in the melt, when the Al&#x2014;Fe&#x2014;Si-based compound is crystallized.

Provided is a method of recovering rare-earth elements by which rare-earth elements can be recovered efficiently from a bauxite residue serving as a raw material and containing the rare-earth elements. Specifically provided is a method of recovering rare-earth elements from a raw material, the raw material being a bauxite residue produced as a by-product in a Bayer process, the method including: using a bauxite residue having a specific surface area of 35 m/g or more; adding, to the raw material bauxite residue, a liquid leaching agent formed of an aqueous solution of at least one kind of mineral acid selected from sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfurous acid, thereby preparing a slurry having a liquid-solid ratio of 2 to 30 and a pH of 0.5 to 2.2; subjecting the slurry to leaching treatment of the rare-earth elements under a temperature condition of room temperature to 160&#xb0; C.; subjecting the slurry after the leaching treatment to solid-liquid separation, yielding a leachate; and separating and recovering the rare-earth elements from the leachate.

An aluminum alloy which is excellent in high temperature strength and heat conductivity by adjusting the composition to one keeping down the drop in high temperature strength and making the Mn content as small as possible to reduce the formation of a solid solution in the aluminum, which aluminum alloy having a composition of ingredients which contains Si: 12 to 16 mass %, N: 0.1 to 2.5 mass %, Cu: 3 to 5 mass %, Mg: 0.3 to 1.2 mass %, Fe: 0.3 to 1.5 mass %, and P: 0.004 to 0.02 mass % and furthermore 0 to 0.1 mass % of Mn and further contains, as necessary, at least one of V: 0.01 to 0.1 mass %, Zr: 0.01 to 0.6 mass %, Cr: 0.01 to 0.2 mass %, and Ti: 0.01 to 0.2 mass %. Also described is a method for producing the aluminum alloy melt.
