A predicting apparatus includes an obtaining unit and a predicting unit. The obtaining unit included in the predicting apparatus obtains actual measurements of data about a fan being rotated at a predetermined revolution frequency N [rpm]. An annular rib including a projecting surface for generating turbulent flow is formed on an inner wall portion of a casing at a position off from the middle stationary portion to a side of the rear impeller, the projecting surface extending radially inwardly of the inner wall portion and extending continuously in the circumferential direction of the inner wall portion. A fluid striking the projecting surface for generating turbulent flow is partially disturbed to form a turbulent flow before entering an area in which the rear impeller is provided. The turbulent flow suppresses flow separation of a fluid flowing along the surfaces of rear blades of the rear impeller from the surfaces of the rear blades.

Counter-rotating axial flow fan

A counter-rotating axial flow fan with improved characteristics and reduced noise compared to the related art can be provided. Defining the number of front blades as N, the number of stationary blades as M, and the number of rear blades as P, and defining the maximum axial chord length of the front blades as Lf, the maximum axial chord length of the rear blades as Lr, the outside diameter of the front blades as Rf, and the outside diameter of the rear blades as Rr, the counter-rotating axial flow fan satisfies the following two relationships: N&#x2267;P&#x3e;M; and Lf/(Rf&#xd7;&#x3c0;/N)&#x2267;1.25 and/or Lr/(Rr&#xd7;&#x3c0;/P)&#x2267;0.83.

A fan unit includes a housing having an air inlet and an air outlet; a first fan and second fan mounted in the air inlet and the air outlet respectively and arranged in tandem so as to generate an air flow; a first valve mounted adjacent to the air inlet for allowing air to flow into the housing and preventing air from flowing out of the housing; and a second valve mounted adjacent to the air outlet for allowing air to flow out of the housing and preventing air from flowing into the housing.

Fan unit

A counter-rotating axial flow fan in which the shape of stationary blades of a middle stationary portion is optimized to reduce noise is provided. Defining the maximum axial chord length of front blades as Lf, the maximum axial chord length of rear blades as Lr, and the maximum axial chord length of stationary blades as Lm, a relationship of Lm/(Lf+Lr)&#x3c;0.14 is satisfied. Defining the maximum dimension between the blade chord for lower surfaces of the stationary blades and the lower surfaces as K, the maximum axial chord length Lm of the stationary blades satisfies a relationship of Lm/K&#x3e;5.8.

A liquid cooling unit includes a pump body. A nipple is formed in the pump body. The nipple defines an outflow passage for coolant. An elastic tube has the tip end receiving insertion of the nipple so that the elastic tube is coupled to the nipple. A fixation member defines a groove supporting the nipple inside the elastic tube over a first predetermined length from the tip end of the nipple. The groove receives the elastic tube alone ahead of the tip end of the nipple over a second predetermined length from the tip end of the nipple.

Muffling device

A heat sink includes a first heat pipe having a flat plate-shape and a second heat pipe connected perpendicularly to the first heat pipe. The first heat pipe has a first wick provided along an inner surface thereof. The second heat pipe has a second wick provided along an inner surface thereof. Each of end portions of the first and second wicks in a connecting portion of the first and second heat pipes has a comb-toothed part formed in a convexoconcave form like teeth of a comb so that the first and second wicks are connected by the comb-toothed parts fitting to each other. The comb-toothed parts of the second wick traverses an interior of the first heat pipe and contacts with the first wick on an opposite side.

Heat sink

The thin-film multi-layer substrate includes an insulating substrate base plate, and a thin-film structure including a plurality of conducting layers and a plurality of insulating layers formed on the substrate base plate. A via structure is formed in the thin-film structure and connected to one of the conducting layers of the thin-layer structure. Pins are connected to the via structure, such that the bottom of the via structure is directly laminated on the substrate base plate, and the pins are secured onto the via structure.
