An LED lamp provides a strong red color with a natural appearance. The LED lamp is provided with an LED module and a filter. The LED module includes a blue LED with a main emission peak in the 440 nm to 460 nm wavelength band, a green/yellow phosphor that is excited by light emitted by the blue LED, and a red phosphor that is excited by light emitted by at least one of the blue LED and the green/yellow phosphor. The filter reduces the spectral radiation intensity of at least a portion of the 570 nm to 590 nm wavelength band among light emitted by the LED module.

The glass bulb is made of soda glass, and sodium oxide precipitated from this soda glass appears on part of the internal surface of the glass bulb where the protective layer is not formed, so as to be exposed to the discharge space.

A fluorescent lamp including a glass bulb, a protection layer formed on an inner surface of the glass bulb, and a phosphor layer formed on a surface of the protection layer. The surface of the protection layer that is in contact with the phosphor layer has cracks. The bulk density of the metal oxide particles in the protection layeris 80% or more. The surface of the protection layerhas 20 to 200 cracks per millimeter in a tube axis direction. The average particle diameter of the metal oxide particles is in the range from 0.01 &#x3bc;m to 1 &#x3bc;m. The thickness of the protection layer is in the range from 0.5 &#x3bc;m to 5 &#x3bc;m.

Fluorescent lamp, backlight apparatus, and manufacturing method of fluorescent lamp

A cold cathode fluorescent lamp includes a light-emitting tube made from borosilicate glass doped with 5.1&#x2013;9.0 wt % of an ultraviolet light absorbent, the light-emitting tube having phosphors coated on an inner surface thereof, and mercury and a rare gas enclosed therein. As a result, 313 nm UV light in addition to 254 nm UV light is sufficiently blocked, thus enabling the provision of cost-effective CCFLs that do not readily cause a reduction in the surface brightness of backlight units.

Cold cathode fluorescent lamp and backlight unit

A fluorescent lamp has a translucent container and a phosphor layer formed on an inner surface of the translucent container, and the phosphor layer comprises phosphor particles and a metal oxide that is arranged to adhere to any of contact portions among the phosphor particles and to partially expose surfaces of the phosphor particles. According to the present invention, film strength of the phosphor layer is improved while suppressing a drastic drop in an initial flux of the fluorescent lamp and deterioration of the luminance.
