A blood pressure monitor of the present invention includes a cuff to be wrapped around a measurement site. The blood pressure monitor includes a unit including, as elements for blood pressure measurement, a pump, a valve, a pressure sensor, and an inner pipe connecting the pump, valve, and pressure sensor such that fluid can pass therethrough. The blood pressure monitor includes a connecting pipe connecting the cuff and the inner pipe in the unit such that fluid can pass therethrough. The blood pressure monitor includes a self failure diagnosis unit configured to determine whether or not there is a failure in a fluid system including the pump, the valve, the pressure sensor, the inner pipe, the connecting pipe, and the cuff, in a state in which the cuff is empty-wrapped into a cylindrical shape and the capacity of the cuff is restricted.

This blood pressure/pulse wave measurement device obtains a pulse wave velocity (baPWV) that is an index representing the arterial stiffness of a subject. A lower limb/upper limb blood pressure ratio (ABI) that is an index representing the clogging of the blood vessels of a subject is obtained. When the lower limb/upper limb blood pressure ratio (ABI) of the subject surpasses a preset first threshold value, a point (Px) representing the pulse wave velocity (baPWV) is displayed on a one-dimensional graph (). When the lower limb/upper limb blood pressure ratio (ABI) of the subject is equal to or less than the preset first threshold value, a point representing the lower limb/upper limb blood pressure ratio (ABI) is displayed on the one-dimensional graph () instead of the point representing the pulse wave velocity (baPWV).

A blood pressure pulse wave measurement apparatus includes: first and second cuffs for pressing upper and lower limbs of a measurement subject; first and second detection units configured to detect first and second pulse waves transmitted from the cuffs through first and second tubes; and a control unit configured to calculate an ankle-brachial blood pressure ratio and a pulse wave velocity using the pulse waves. First and second delay elements are provided at specific positions in the lengthwise directions of the tubes. The first delay element delays a transfer characteristic of the first tube so the transfer characteristic of the first tube matches a transfer characteristic of a tube having a predetermined first reference length, and the second delay element delays a transfer characteristic of the second tube so the transfer characteristic of the second tube matches a transfer characteristic of a tube having a predetermined second reference length.

Blood pressure pulse wave measurement apparatus

A blood pressure/pulse wave measurement device is provided with: first and second cuffs for pressing parts of the upper and lower limbs of a subject; and first and second tubing connected to the individual first and second cuffs. The blood pressure/pulse wave measurement device is additionally provided with: a first detection unit that is connected to the first cuffs via the first tubing and that detects a first pulse wave propagated through the first tubing; a second detection unit that is connected to the second cuffs via the second tubing and that detects a second pulse wave propagated through the second tubing; and a control unit that calculates the ankle brachial index and pulse wave velocity using the first and second pulse waves. The first detection unit and the control unit are accommodated within a first housing. The second detection unit is accommodated within a second housing.
