An information processing apparatus includes: a memory which temporarily stores image data of an image captured by an imaging unit; and a processor which processes the image data stored in the memory. The processor performs: face detection processing to process the image data of the image stored in the memory in order to detect a face area with a face captured therein and an orientation of the face from the image; and brightness control processing to control screen brightness of a display unit based on a position of the face area and the orientation of the face detected by the face detection processing.

An electronic apparatus includes a memory which temporarily stores image data of an image captured by an imaging device, and a processor which processes image data stored in the memory to execute boot processing to boot a system from a standby state based on an authentication result by face authentication. The processor processes image data of an image captured by the imaging device and stored in the memory in the standby state to detect, from the image, a face area in which a face that satisfies possible conditions for face authentication is captured, and when a face area that satisfies the possible conditions for face authentication is detected from the image, the processor gives a boot instruction to execute the boot processing.

An electronic apparatus includes: a memory which temporarily stores image data of an image captured by an imaging device; and a processor which executes system processing based on a program of a system and processing using the image data. The processor: processes image data of plural images captured by the imaging device at predetermined time intervals and stored in the memory to detect face areas with a face captured therein from among the plural images; determines the amount of change in face area position detected from among the plural images, and determines whether or not there is motion in the captured face over the predetermined time intervals based on the amount of change; and determines that a user is present when it is determined that there is motion in the face.

The operation control unit controls an operating state of the system. The processor includes a face detection unit that processes image data of an image obtained by the imaging device capturing a predetermined imaging range and stored in the memory to perform detection of a face area with a face captured therein and an orientation of the face from the image. The operation control unit controls, according to a detection result by the face detection unit, the operating state of the system to be a first operating state or a second operating state.

Electronic apparatus and control method that accurately detect human faces

An electronic apparatus includes processing unit configured to execute system processing, an object detection unit configured to detect an object present within a predetermined detection range, and an operation control unit configured to control the system processing according to a detection state detected by the object detection unit to make a transition to one of a first operating state and a second operating state in which at least part of the system processing is more limited than that in the first operating state. When a transition from the first operating state to the second operating state is made regardless of the detection state detected by the object detection unit, where the operation control unit prohibits the transition to the first operating state according to the detection state detected by the object detection unit.

Controlling operational state of an electronic apparatus based on user proximity and user input

An electronic apparatus includes: a detector that detects an object present within a predetermined detection range; and an embedded controller that based on a detection result by the detector determines that the object has left the electronic apparatus when the object is no longer detected within a first detection range of the predetermined detection range after the object has previously been detected within the first detection range, and determines that the object has approached the electronic apparatus after the object is detected within a second detection range in the predetermined detection range wider than the first detection range when no objects were previously detected within the predetermined detection range. While the object determined to have left is detected within the second detection range, the embedded controller determines that the object has re-approached based on a detection position of the object moving toward the first detection range.

An electronic privacy apparatus, for selectively blocking transmission of data from a camera, includes a camera, a first processor, a switch, and a second processor. The first processor is connected to the camera and receives image data from the camera. The switch is connected to the first processor. The second processor is configured to execute an operating system. The first processor implements a transmission state where the first processor transmits the image data to the second processor. The first processor also implements a privacy state where the first processor transmits blank data to the second processor. Based on user input, the switch selects either the transmission state or the privacy state and transmits a signal to the first processor indicating the user input.
