A vein authentication apparatus registers vein data and vein characteristic amounts, determines comparison order at vein data identification time by sorting records in descending order of degree of similarity on the basis of vein characteristic amounts for comparison and the registered vein characteristic amounts, and makes vein data comparison in accordance with the comparison order. The vein authentication apparatus uses 32 frequencies obtained by performing a Fourier transform, 12 angles obtained by performing a Fourier transform, curvature directions in 36 angle areas, segment directions in 18 angle areas, and a vein amount as the vein characteristic amounts. By doing so, the accuracy of comparison order is improved and a comparison using a record for which a degree of similarity is low can be omitted. As a result, the speed of a comparison process and the maximum number of pieces of living body information which can be registered can be increased.

Living body information registration method, biometrics authentication method, and biometrics authentication apparatus

A body part guidance control is performed in a non-contact biometrics authentication device which performs individual authentication utilizing characteristics of a body part which is a portion of a human body, for guiding the body part so as to capture images without contact. The future position at the time of message display is predicted by using body part positions of n times in the past and the guidance message can be selected according to this predicted position to output an appropriate message. Hence the time for guidance into an appropriate image capture region can be shortened, the output of messages for movement in the direction opposite the body part movement can be prevented, and inducement of confusion in the user can be prevented, so that the speed of authentication can be improved.

Body part guidance control method for non-contact biometrics authentication device and non-contact biometrics authentication device

A biometric authentication device, which uses biometrics characteristic information to perform individual authentication, prevents declines in verification speed even when numerous biometrics information sets have been registered. A control unit registers broad characteristic quantities for blood vessel image data from an image capture device, together with characteristic data for verification. And at the time of authentication the control unit uses degrees of similarity of characteristic quantities to determine an order of verification, and performs verification of blood vessel image characteristic data in the verification order thus determined. The order of verification is determined based on captured blood vessel images, so that even when numerous characteristic data sets have been registered, verification can be performed in an order of verification based on a blood vessel image of the user, and the speed of verification can be improved.
