A portable audio player () includes a decoder () and other devices for reproducing audio data, a microcomputer () for controlling starting and stopping the reproduction, and a radio communication device (). An on-vehicle audio player () includes a radio communication device () for a bidirectional radio communication with the radio communication device in the portable audio player, a decoder () and other devices for reproducing audio data, and a microcomputer () for controlling starting and stopping the reproduction. In case that the portable audio player stops reproducing the audio data, the on-vehicle audio player starts reproducing the audio data.

A vehicle-installed telephone apparatus comprises a portable phone with announcing means controlled by a microcomputer, running detecting means which detects that a vehicle is running, incoming call detecting means which detects that an incoming call is received and control means which sends control signals to the portable phone. The control means sends control signals which invalidate the operation of the announcing means to the microcomputer within the portable phone, when the running detecting means detects that the vehicle is running and the incoming call detecting means detects that the incoming call is received at the same time, whereby a driver can concentrate on driving without being diverted his attention, even if an incoming call is received while driving.

The RDS receiver is constituted by a memory control section for storing the classification information (PTY code) demodulated from RDS broadcast waves which are being received into a PTY memory; the PTY memory for storing the classification information; and a station selecting section for selecting a station of the multiplex broadcast waves regarding the classification information by reading out the classification information from the PTY memory. A receiver with automatic tuning function includes: unit for dividing an area where broadcasting stations exist into a plurality of blocks and storing block information relating to the blocks; unit for storing station information relating to each of the broadcasting stations located in the block in association with the block information of the block; unit for storing block information of a current block and blocks surrounding the current block; unit for selecting a broadcasting station out of the plurality of broadcasting stations located in the current block by referring to the station information associated with the block information of the current block; unit for receiving electric wave from the station selected; unit for judging receiving condition of the electric wave and outputting a judgement signal; and unit for renewing the current block.

Receiver with automatic tuning function

A multiplex broadcasting station selecting method which can execute a station selecting operation in group units is provided. A PTY code to be compared and a channel are set to one set of large classification information. The user sequentially calls out the PTY codes to be designated to one group and depresses the same channel key or the like each time the desired PTY code is called, thereby storing into memory the large classification information in which a plurality of PTY codes are made correspond to a same channel number. When executing a retrieving operation, the user depresses one operation key. The large classification information corresponding to the channel number is consequently selected and the group having a similar genre can be retrieved as set. The user can receive either one of or all of the broadcasting stations in the large classification information of the group. A process such that the group is allocated to each of the channels which was conventionally impossible can be executed, so that the range of application of the RDS broadcasting is broadened.
