A target vehicle path is corrected in accordance with the environment surrounding a vehicle during parking assist or U-turn assist. To achieve the target vehicle path, target wheel speeds are set for respective wheels so as to generate a speed difference an inside wheel and an outside wheel of a turn. The target wheel speed is achieved by controlling braking force and driving force of each wheel. Thus, it is possible for the vehicle to turn with a smaller turning radius than that generated by a normal steering angle, and to cause the vehicle to move accurately along the target vehicle path that avoids any obstacles that are present.

In a parking assist control apparatus for assisting a driver with parking a vehicle, when a brake control ECU detects that a door is open based on a detection signal from a door open/close sensor during parking assist control, the brake control ECU determines whether the open door is a door other than the driver side door. An automatic steering control performs an automatic parking control which automatically steers steerable wheels of a vehicle, without requiring a driver to perform steering wheel operation, such that the actual steering angle of the steerable wheels follows a changing target steering angle, whereby the vehicle is moved to a target parking state. When the actual steering angle fails to follow the target steering angle because of insufficiency of the steering drive force of a steering actuator, a braking force difference imparting control is performed so as to apply a predetermined braking force on the steerable wheel located inside a target vehicle locus. As a result, a steering moment is generated in the steerable wheels. This steering moment serves as a force for compensating for the insufficiency of the steering drive force of the steering actuator. As a result, the actual steering angle accurately follows the target steering angle.

Disclosed is a rotation detecting sensor suitable for use under a vibration-abundant condition as e.g. a sensor disposed in an automobile body for detecting rotation of an engine or ABS. The sensor includes a detecting element for detecting rotation of a rotary body as a change in a magnetic flux and outputting a signal and an integrated circuit for processing the amplified signal into a pulse corresponding to the detected rotation of the rotary body. The signal processing includes an initialization such as a gain adjustment for obtaining an appropriate gain for use in the subsequent process of conversion of the amplified signal to the pulse. According to this invention, a re-initialization is effected to obtain a new initial value such as a new gain if the previously effected initialization is determined inappropriate.

Tire air pressure detection device for detecting air pressure based on vehicle speed signal

A tire burst predicting device which can predict occurrence of bursting of a tire and gives an alarm properly is provided. A break point frequency is estimated on the basis of time series data of wheel speed detected at a wheel speed sensor from frequency response of a first order model to which a transmission characteristic from a road surface disturbance to a wheel speed is approximated. A braking force gradient corresponding to the estimated break point frequency is estimated, on the basis of a map, which is prestored, representing a relationship between break point frequencies and braking force gradients. Extra high frequency components are eliminated from the estimated braking force gradient by a low pass filter to reduce estimation dispersion. Differentiators detect changing speed of the braking force gradient. An alarm is given when there is a possibility of bursting of tire when the detected changing speed reaches or exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

A threshold value at a side of a bottom value of a sensor signal is renewed by a value calculated by multiplying a minimum value of a deviation between the bottom value and a reference value for the predetermined period of time by a ratio when the minimum value of the deviation is equal to or smaller than the threshold value. A threshold value at a side of a peak value thereof is also renewed by a value calculated by multiplying a minimum vale of a deviation between the peak value and the reference value from the predetermined period of time by a ratio when the minimum value of the deviation is equal to or smaller than the threshold value.
