In an image heating apparatus in which a heating rotating body heats a recording material bearing an image and a rubbing member rubs the heating rotating body to eliminate gloss streaks, an image failure, such as gloss unevenness, does not occur on normal plain paper and coated paper, and a toner gloss on the coated paper can be enhanced. A longitudinal temperature difference of a heating rotating body 91 is controlled within a predetermined temperature, so that the surface of the heating rotating body can be uniformly roughed. Consequently, an image failure due to scuffs on the surface of the heating rotating body and gloss unevenness due to unevenness of roughness of the surface of the heating rotating body are prevented, and thus a good fixed image can be obtained.

An image heating apparatus including: an endless belt; a heating rotary member for heating a toner image on a sheet at a heating nip between the belt and the rotary member; a pressure member provided slidably on an inner surface of the belt at the heating nip, for bringing the belt into pressure contact with the rotary member; and a lubricant applying roller including a lubricant retaining layer for retaining a lubricant and a lubricant applying amount controlling layer for controlling an applying amount of the lubricant, the lubricant applying roller abutting against the inner surface of the belt to apply the lubricant onto the inner surface of the belt while rotating, in which the lubricant applying roller is brought into contact with the belt and includes a high frictional portion having a coefficient of friction higher than that of the lubricant applying amount controlling layer.

Conveyor-belt apparatus and image heating apparatus

An image heating apparatus includes an endless belt for heating an image on a recording material in a nip and a pressing pad for pressing the belt from an inner surface thereof in the nip. A sheet-like member is provided to cover the pressing pad, providing for sliding movement relative to the belt. A lubricant absorbing member for suppressing swelling of the pressing pad by absorbing a lubricant applied on an inner surface of the belt, with the lubricant absorbing member covered by the sheet-like member.

In an image forming apparatus having single-color mode and full-color mode, to maintain an excellent fusing property of the single-color image and the full-image even on the condition that the temperature of the fixing member is easy to fall, when the temperature of the fusing roller lowers during the image forming job, the control for decreasing the subsequent image productivity or the control for discontinuing the job is performed within general performance power supply with ease. The reference temperature for determining such lowering of the image productivity or discontinuation of the job is set to be lower in the single-color mode than the full-color mode. As a result, both of the fusing property and the high image productivity can be realized.
