An atmosphere-cleaning device equipped on vehicle and provides a DOR (Direct Ozone Reduction) system including an on-vehicle component on which a new ozone purifier is supported and a method for manufacturing same. A radiator has a core part including an ozone purifier with a particle of an activated carbon as its core and an ozone purification catalyst layer as its shell formed by powder plating process. Ozone can diffuse into the layer and the carbon in this order. Ozonolysis reaction with the sub-catalyst can be initiated in advance to ozonolysis reaction with the carbon thereby gas contact probability with the carbon can be relatively reduced and oxidation reaction of the carbon caused by active oxygen can be suppressed.

Provided is a filter for removing a sulfur-containing-gas (), which removes the sulfur-containing-gas by being brought into contact with the sulfur-containing-gas in a gas flow path, the filter including a former filter () disposed on an upstream side of the gas flow path, and a latter filter () disposed on a downstream side of the gas flow path, wherein the former filter () includes a first material for removing a sulfur-containing-gas, the first material including a porous support, and iodine which is supported on the porous support, and is produced by catalytic pyrolysis of ammonium iodide at a thermal decomposition ratio of 80% or more by use of the porous support as a catalyst, and the latter filter () includes a second material for removing a sulfur-containing-gas, the second material including an activated carbon fiber, and an alkali component which is supported on the activated carbon fiber.

A material for removing offensive odors, which efficiently removes offensive odors, especially aldehydes, without being influenced by the ambient atmosphere such as humidity. It contains at least one acid salt selected from the group consisting of acid salts of aniline halides, acid salts of esters of aminobenzoic acid, acid salts of sulfanilamide or its derivatives, acid salts of aminoacetanilide and acid salts of aminoacetophenone. It may be supported on a porous carrier. The removing capacity of the material is not lowered by the variation of the ambient atmosphere of humidity and temperature. The material efficiently removes aldehydes.

Material for removing offensive odor

An exhaust gas purifying catalyst is characterized in that at least one kind of catalyst metal is loaded on a layered porous silica or a layered porous silica-metal oxide. The exhaust gas purifying catalyst is used as an oxidation catalyst for purifying hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide, or a reduction catalyst for purifying nitrogen oxides (NO.sub.x), which is suitable for purifying exhaust gases in automobiles. An exhaust gas purifying apparatus includes the above exhaust gas purifying catalyst and an absorbent for trapping hydrocarbon components, in which aromatic HC such as trimethylbenzene and the like are effectively trapped.

A composite adsorbent comprising an acid salt of an m- or p-aromatic amino acid and an acid. The adsorbent may further contain a transition metal compound. The former removes aldehydes, ammonias and amines simultaneously, and the latter further removes hydrogen sulfide. The composite adsorbent is used in the form of a powder, a solution, or a solid supported on a carrier.

A heat resistant layered porous silica having a honeycomb porous structure comprises a plurality of waved or bent sheet layers of crystalline layered silicate superposed one after another, and the neighboring sheets are partially bonded by siloxane bonding. The spacing between the neighboring sheet layers is narrowed toward the bonded portions and expanded at other portions to thereby form fine pores. The layered porous silica contains alkali metal ions in an amount of 0.2% by weight or less and has a specific surface area of 1,000 m.sup.2 /g or more. The layered porous silica has a large specific surface area, and exhibits an excellent heat resistance and adsorption of organic substances such as fuel.

Heat resistant layered porous silica and process for producing the same

Inorganic material comprises a mixture of water glass and metakaolin obtained by heat treating a kaolin group clay mineral at 600.degree. to 900.degree. C. This inorganic material, when solidified by drying, exhibits excellent water resistance, and when solidified by heating to a temperature of 80.degree. to 500.degree. C., exhibits excellent water and hot water resistances. The inorganic material may further contain a hydrous magnesium silicate type clay mineral. Such material, when solidified by drying, exhibits further excellent water resistance and when solidified by heating to a temperature of 80.degree. to 500.degree. C., exhibits excellent resistances to water, hot water and boiling water.
