A data stored display device such as wrist watch comprises a central processing unit, a transmitting and receiving means for transmitting and receiving data and including a coil, RAMs written in and read out data under the control of the central processing unit, a display panel for displaying data stored in the RAMs and a stand-by switch for changing the transmitting and receiving means for non-transmitting and receiving condition to a transmitting and receiving condition so that the data stored display device can be inputted data from an external controller such as a computer having a transmitting and receiving coil and can function as a display panel of the external controller.

An electronic timepiece having multi-functions comprises a quartz oscillation circuit as a time standard signal generating circuit, a dividing circuit for dividing the output signal of said quartz oscillation circuit, a timing pulse generating circuit for generating a timing pulse signal which operates many kinds of circuit blocks as an input signal of one part of the output of said dividing circuit, a ROM-circuit as a program memory for executing multi-function operations of the timepiece and others, a program counter and page counter for renewing an address of said ROM-circuit, a RAM-circuit as a data-memory for memorizing a controlling memory, an operated result and a time information, an operation circuit for executing many kinds of operations, a data comparison and a data transformation, a latch circuit as an output data memory circuit for temporarily memorizing a display data or other necessary output data, a driver circuit for displaying all of or a part of the contents of said latch circuit, an alarm sound combining circuit in which a part of the output signal of said dividing circuit can be applied thereto, and wherein at least a part of the address of said program memory is synchronously driven by a 100 HZ signal.

Electronic timepiece having multi-functions

An electronic timepiece having a liquid crystal display device and a buzzer comprised of a piezoelectric element. A voltage booster circuit comprised of a capacitor and a semiconductor switching element boosts the voltage of the voltage supply, and the boosted voltage is applied to drive the liquid crystal display device. A buzzer driving circuit inverts the booster voltage and simultaneously applies the booster voltage and the inverted booster voltage to drive the piezoelectric buzzer element. The operating frequency of the voltage booster is increased when the buzzer is operated and when the booster voltage and inverted booster voltage are applied to energize the piezoelectric buzzer element.

Electronic timepiece

In an electronic timepiece, a motor is driven by a pulse having a shorter pulse width than the conventional driving pulse and afterwards, a detection pulse is applied to the motor coil so as to determine rotation of the rotor. If the rotor fails to rotate a correction is effected by driving the motor by a pulse having a pulse width greater than the normal driving pulse.

In an electronic watch having an oscillator for producing a time base signal and stepping motor, drive pulses are produced for normally driving the motor under normal load conditions. The rotation and non-rotation of the motor in response to the last drive pulse is detected in response to a detecting pulse, and if non-rotation has been detected, a predetermined plurality of correction pulses are applied to the motor for driving same, the correction pulses being sufficient to drive the motor under a high torque loading. In this way, power consumption is decreased since a high power driving is saved only for high torque loading conditions.

Electronic watch

An electronic timepiece including a dividing circuit for developing different output pulse signals having different respective pulse repetition rates, a stepping motor and a drive circuit responsive to control signals for driving the stepping motor at a normal rate and for applying a correction pulse to the stepping motor according to the control signals. A pulse combining circuit combines the different output pulse signals from the dividing circuit for generating control signals and for applying the control signals to the drive circuit. The pulse combining circuit normally generates a control signal effective to drive the stepping motor at a normal rate, and the pulse combining circuit is responsive to a correction signal to control the drive circuit to apply a corrective pulse to the stepping motor. A detection circuit detects rotation and non-rotation of the stepping motor rotor and generates a detection voltage signal indicative of the state of rotation of the rotor. A voltage comparing circuit compares the detection voltage signal with a standard voltage value and applies a correction signal to the pulse combining circuit when non-rotation of the stepping rotor is detected after a drive pulse is applied to the stepping motor.

Electronic timepiece with rotation detector

An electronic timepiece including a stepping motor and a time-indicating hand moved in a stepwise manner by the stepping motor for indicating time. During normal operation the time-indicating hand moves at a normal periodic rate. When operating conditions such as a low battery cause the stepping motor to not rotate, correcting pulses are applied to the stepping motor to supply additional energy to it to cause it to rotate. Additionally, the correcting pulses cause the rotor, and the time-indicating hand to rotate at a rate different from the normal periodic rate to alert the timepiece user that some condition exists tending to cause non-rotation of the stepping motor.

An electronic timepiece including a ROM program memory for storing a program, a program counter for addressing the program memory, and a RAM data memory. An operating circuit including an arithmetic logic circuit operates on the data. The ROM program memory circuit stores a test program, and the program counter includes preset test means for addressing the test program stored in the ROM program circuit to operate the timepiece according to the test program. The program memory counter also includes jump inhibiting means for inhibiting execution of the operating program stored in the ROM program memory, in response to a jump address.

Circuitry for reducing power consumption in a multi function electronic timepiece utilizes a low frequency signal from the timing pulse generating circuit and a halt signal from the time signal processing circuitry to inhibit the feeding of timing signals to the processing circuitry after the receipt of a halt signal signifying the end of a function routine and until the receipt of the next low frequency signal.

Multi function electronic timepiece

An electronic timepiece having a control circuit for controlling operation of the timepiece circuit, and an input switching circuit. The input switching circuit includes a plurality of manually operable switches, and a programmed logic array for receiving signals from the manually operating switches and for developing output signals applied to the control circuit for controlling the control circuit. The input switching circuit further includes a memory having an input for receiving output signals from the programmed logic array, and an output for applying memory output signals to the input of the programmed logic array. The memory has a delay for delaying control of the control circuit, in response to actuation of the manually operable switches, for an interval sufficient to allow an operation being performed by the timepiece circuit to be completed without being interrupted by actuation of the manually operable switches.

A semiconductor integrated driving circuit including a junction FET and a C-MOS FET fabricated on a common semiconductor substrate. The junction FET is switched between conductive and non-conductive states for controlling and supplying a high driving current to a high current load element.

An electronic timepiece circuit including a data memory for storing time information and display information, and an operating circuit which renews the data stored in the data memory circuit. A program memory circuit stores a sequential program for determining generation of control signals supplied to the data memory circuit and the operating circuit. Two different command data systems are stored in the program memory circuit. One command data system consists of controlling commands which carry out time counting, time setting and display functions, and for pointing addresses in the data memory circuit. The other command data system consists of commands for judging conditions, for pointing addresses of the data memory and for pointing the jump address of the programs stored in the program memory circuit.

In an electronic timepiece having a stepping motor, a drive pulse is produced for normally driving the motor, a detecting pulse is generated for detecting whether the motor has rotated in response to the last drive pulse and a correction pulse is produced for driving the motor when non-rotation has been detected. A current limiting resistor is disposed in series with the motor for limiting the current thereto and a switching transistor is connected across the current limiting resistor to short circuit same to effect an increase in the current to the motor. During the detecting pulse, the voltage across the current limiting resistor is compared to a predetermined value. If the voltage is above the predetermined value, which indicates that the motor has not rotated in response to the last drive pulse, the switching means is actuated to short circuit the current limiting resistor and the correction pulse is applied to the motor during the resulting increased current condition so that the motor will be enabled to rotate even when a higher torque load is applied thereto. In this way, a decreased amount of current is used during the normal torque loading condition on the motor.

An electronic timepiece reduces power consumption by normally driving the stepping motor with a short pulse and driving the motor with a wide pulse under heavy load conditions by sensing the rotor position. A detection circuit senses the voltage drop across a detection element in series with the motor coil for driving a first detection pulse and senses again for driving a second detection pulse. If the second voltage drop is larger, then the rotor is not rotating whereupon the wide pulse is used to drive the motor.

This invention provides a voltage dropping circuit which is composed of capacitors and MOS field effect electronic switching elements whereby a voltage equal to M/N of the voltage of a power source is obtained.
