According to one embodiment, a gradient coil unit for a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes gradient coils for forming gradient magnetic fields in mutually orthogonal three axis directions. At least one of the gradient coils includes a conductor part along a coil pattern and a holding part holding the coil pattern. A passage of a coolant is formed inside at least one of the conductor part and the holding part. The passage has a non-constant cross section.

A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes: a magnetostatic field magnet that is formed in the shape of a cylinder and generates a magnetostatic field in a space inside the cylinder; a gradient coil that is formed in the shape of a cylinder, is disposed in the cylinder of the magnetostatic field magnet, and applies a gradient magnetic field to the magnetostatic field; a bore tube that is formed in the shape of a cylinder and is disposed in the cylinder of the gradient coil; and an elastic member that is loop-shaped and hollow, is disposed in at least one selected from: a space between an inner circumferential side of the magnetostatic field magnet and an outer circumferential side of the gradient coil; and a space between an inner circumferential side of the gradient coil and an outer circumferential side of the bore tube, and thereby seals the space hermetically.

In a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus according to an embodiment, a measuring unit moves a couchtop on which a subject is placed to at least one position of a plurality of positions in an imaging space, adjusts shim coil current value supplied to the shim coil, and measures first shim coil current value when a static magnetic field is uniformized. On the basis of the first shim coil current value and at least one of subject information and an imaging condition, a calculator calculates second shim coil current value position of the plurality of positions and at which the measuring unit has measured no shim coil current value.

A magnetic resonance apparatus includes a static field magnet, a gradient field coil, a cover which forms, inside the static field magnet and the gradient field coil, an internal space in which a bed top and a subject placed on the bed top are to be inserted, a radio frequency coil unit which includes a cylindrical base portion and first electronic elements and second electronic elements and is placed in the internal space, a first flow path which is formed between the base portion and the cover to cool the first electronic elements, a second flow path which is formed between the base portion and the cover and communicates with the first flow path to cool the second electronic elements, and a cooling unit which cools the radio frequency coil unit by generating a cooling gas flow flowing from the first flow path to the second flow path.

An MRI apparatus has a gantry, a bed and a lighting unit collective including a plurality of lighting units. The gantry accommodates a static field magnet configured to generate a static field, a gradient coil configured to generate a gradient magnetic field, and an RF coil configured to transmit or receive an RF pulse as well as having an opening into which a person is inserted. The bed has a removable table-top for an inside and an outside of the opening. The lighting unit group is disposed at at least one of an inside position of the opening and an outside position from which an inside of the opening can be lighted so that the lighting units can carry out lighting such that an amount of emitting light increases bit by bit from a bedside to a counter bedside opposite to the bedside across the opening.

Further, an MRI joint imaging system for obtaining a magnetic resonance image of a joint portion of a patient by bending the joint portion includes: a moving mechanism having a fixing base for fixing the joint portion and for bending the joint portion; a non-magnetic driving mechanism for supplying a driving force to the moving mechanism; an imaging unit for imaging the joint portion; and a controller for controlling the driving mechanism and the imaging mechanism so that the bending motion of the joint portion by the driving mechanism, and the image of the joint portion by the imaging unit, can be timed with each other.

An RF coil system having (2n+1)/4 (n: zero or a positive integer) wavelength cables arranged in both ends of a PIN diode conneted in series with an RF coil, and a PIN diode is DC-biased via the aforementioned cable. A multi-band RF system constructed by providing a plurality of such wavelength cables corresponding to the frequencies of an RF pulse in obtaining an MR signal. Since the cable is, for example, of a coaxial type, the length of the cable is easy to adjust and it is thus possible to avoid coupling to the ambient environment.
