An internal combustion engine for a small planing boat for reducing the lateral width of an oil pan in conformity to the configuration of the bottom while securing the filtering surface area of an oil strainer. In addition, a vertical width of the oil pan is maintained to be small to thereby lower the total height of the internal combustion engine. In an internal combustion engine for a small planing boat, an oil pan is provided at the bottom portion of the internal combustion engine with an oil passage for communicating with an oil pump being formed inside the oil pan. A vertical wall of the oil passage is partially cut away to form communication openings each communicating between the inside and outside of the oil passage with the oil strainers being interposed in the communication openings substantially vertically to divide the oil passage into inside and outside.

Internal combustion engine for small planing boat

To provide an inner shim that is unlikely to fall off from a spring retainer even when an anomalous operation of a valve occurs. A spring retainer fixed to the upper end portion of a valve shaft has a shim-attachment hole. An inner shim is fitted into the shim-attachment hole. The bottom face of the inner shim is in contact with the upper end portion of the valve shaft, and the top face of the inner shim is positioned below the upper edge of the shim-attachment hole. A tappet is disposed above the spring retainer, and is allowed to move freely in the axial direction of the valve shaft. A shim-holding projection sticks out from the under face of the tappet, and extends downward. The projection enters, from above, the inside of the shim-attachment hole, and is in contact with the top face of the inner shim.

Valve mechanism of engine

An intercooler has a case through which supercharging air passes, and a heat exchangermounted inside the case which allows heat exchange between the supercharging air and a cooling fluid. A frame bodyis provided at the circumferential edges of air passage portions of the heat exchangeron a supercharging air intake side and a supercharging air outlet side to reduce the gap between the heat exchanger and the inner wall of the case. Intercooler

A heat exchanger is interposed between a supercharger of an internal combustion engine and an intake port of the internal combustion engine. The plate partially closes a space between an outer periphery of heat exchanger fins housed in a case and a case inner wall surface to form an air channel in a portion other than a closing part thereof. The plate may be constructed as an aluminum plate. The outlet is provided with a net member for foreign matter passage prevention.

Heat exchanger

To enhance the responsiveness of a relief valve, to lower the height of an engine, and to remove foreign matter entrapped in oil. A cylindrical relief valve for a dry sump type engine is disposed in parallel to a main gallery which is disposed in parallel to a crank shaft. Alternatively, the relief valve is disposed in an oil tank. Furthermore, a strainer for straining oil recovered in the oil tank is provided in the oil tank.

Lubricating apparatus for dry sump type engine

The burning of unburned fuel in an exhaust pipe is a technique for preventing a turbo lag. However, since the technique requires combustion in the exhaust pipe, the temperature in the exhaust pipe becomes high, which is likely to damage the exhaust pipe, cause the exhaust emissions to deteriorate. The present invention addresses this problem by providing an ignition control apparatus for an engine with a turbocharger, capable of adjusting an ignition timing and a turbocharger. When a throttle valve is opened rapidly, the ignition control apparatus causes the ignition timing to advance with respect to the ordinary ignition timing. Consequently, the start of combustion is advanced, and the speed of rotation of the engine is raised, thereby increasing the speed of an exhaust turbine to achieve the desired increase in engine performance, without the problems of conventional ignition control systems.

In order to provide an intercooler assuming a simple structure that enables cooling of supercharging air and absorption of any expansion/contraction of the cooling water pipe and the casing attributable to the heat of the supercharging air, intake/outlet pipes of a heat exchanger housed inside a cooling space formed within a case are inserted at cylindrical pipe insertion portions formed at the case, and any gap present between the intake/outlet pipes and the insertion portions are sealed by seal members each constituted of an elastic material formed in a staged cylindrical shape having a first cylindrical portion placed in complete contact with one of the pipe insertion portions and a second cylindrical portion placed in complete contact with either one of the intake/outlet pipes, which are also utilized to fit the heat exchanger in the case with a gap.
