In a brake apparatus for a hoisting machine of an elevator, a field magnet and an armature of an electromagnetic actuator are mounted directly to brake arms supporting brake shoes. Therefore, members for transmitting the motion of an electromagnetic actuator into the motion of the brake arms can be omitted, whereby the number of parts and the overall size of the hoisting machine can be reduced, and maintenance operations can be performed easily at lower positions.

Brake apparatus for an elevator hoisting machine

A linear motor elevator system comprising a sheave disposed in the upper portion of an elevator hoistway, a length of rope wound around the sheave, a movable member connected to said rope, a primary winding disposed only on a first side of said movable member and a secondary conductor extending within and along the hoistway in association with said primary winding to constitute a linear motor. The system may comprise a brake unit disposed on a second side of said movable member which is opposite to said first side and a guide rail disposed within said hoistway for being engaged by said brake unit.

Linear motor elevator system

A brake shoe for an elevator safety device comprising a supporting body provided on a vertically moving body and having a front surface thereof facing a guide rail for being pressed toward the guide rail in the event of an emergency stop; the front surface having a plurality of bottomed holes provided therein; and a plurality of ceramic braking members disposed in the holes of the supporting body and each having a top portion thereof protruding from the front surface of the supporting body and each having an outer size smaller than a complementary size of each the hole. In the brake shoe, deformation, fusion, etc. on braking surfaces and breakage of the braking surfaces due to shocks during operation can be prevented, thereby achieving an improvement in safety and reliability. Further, an elevator speed can be increased and a device size can be reduced. Also, since the braking members have the outer sizes smaller than the complementary size of each of the holes, no compressive stress may normally be generated in the braking members.

Brake shoe for elevator safety device

The present invention provides a linear motor driven elevator apparatus which enables a decrease in the thrust variation at the passage of primary windings of a linear induction motor loaded on a car or a balance weight through joints of secondary conductors and which can prevent an unpleasant impression from being given to the passengers. In the elevator apparatus, each of the connections of the secondary conductor members of the linear induction motor serving as a drive source for vertically driving an elevator car has a structure in which each of the secondary conductor members is notched to about half of the thickness thereof, and the notch portions are superposed. The length of each of the notch portions is set to a value greater than the pole pitch of the primary windings of the linear induction motor, and the set heights of the joints are different from each other.

Joining segments of the secondary in a linear motor driven elevator

A linear induction motor for an elevator which includes a secondary, stationary element having a body formed with a plurality of iron-core mounting holes arranged longitudinally of the body at a certain interval, and iron cores disposed in the holes. The stationary, secondary element allows magnetic flux flowing therethrough to pass through the iron cores, thereby reducing the dimension of the total magnetic gap in the motor. Furthermore, the combination of the iron cores in which eddy currents flow with difficulty and the body along which eddy currents tend to flow makes it possible to reduce the ineffective eddy currents.

Linear induction motor for elevator

A brake unit for an elevator hoist apparatus for use with an electric motor output shaft includes a brake disc mounted to the motor output shaft and a pair of brake arm assemblies each having a spring-biased pivotable brake arm and a brake shoe attached to one end of the brake arm for frictional engagment with the brake disc. The electromagnetic actuator is connected to the other end of the brake arms for separating the brake shoes from the brake disc against the braking springs. Each brake spring is a coil spring having a longitudinal axis extending parallel to the motor output shaft, whereby the brake unit can be made compact.

Brake unit for an elevator hoist apparatus

A passenger conveyor guide arrangement comprises a guide rail which supports and guides step rollers mounted on the conveyor steps and a fastener which includes a nut and a bolt having a threaded shank and a substantially rectangular head for fastening the guide rail to the conveyor main frame. The guide rail includes a bottom guide portion for guiding a step roller tread and side guide portions vertically rising from the side edges of the bottom portion for guiding the roller sides. The bottom and the side guide portions together form a substantially U-shaped cross section. A side plate extends from the side guide portion at each side edge of the bottom guide portion in a direction substantially perpendicular to the bottom guide portion, and inturned portions extend from the lower end of the side plates in a direction substantially parallel to the bottom guide portion and each other to form a slit between the inner edges so as to engage the rectangular head of the bolt of the fastener.

Passenger conveyor guide arrangement

A curved escalator comprising a plurality of segment steps having step axles connected to an inner and an outer endless loop of step chains so that the steps circulate along the endless loops, and inner and outer sprocket wheels having different diameters for turning around the step axles along a conical surface in turn-around portions of the loop in engagement with the inner and outer endless chain loops, the bottom surfaces of the teeth being engageable with the step axles of the inner and outer sprocket wheels having sloped surfaces that are parallel to the axis of the step axles in the turn-around portion, and the teeth having the same pitch circle. Since the bottom surfaces of the teeth engaging the step axles have sloped surfaces that are parallel to the axis of the step axles in the turn-around portion, and since the pitch circles of the teeth are the same, the driving force is transmitted to the step axles and the step chain, and the steps are smoothly turned around to provide a better ride.

Curved escalator

A curvilinear escalator comprises, in combination: a main frame having an arcuate shape in the horizontal plane of projection and disposed in inclined condition, the main frame having a forwarding way formed on the top surface side thereof, a turning section at one distal end part of the main frame in the longitudinal direction thereof, and a return way on the bottom surface side thereof to thereby construct an endless conveying path; a plurality of steps continuously disposed in the conveying path and guided therealong, each of the steps being in a sector shape; a pair of step chains disposed at both sides of the steps on the edge part in the breadthwise direction thereof and provided along the conveying path, the each step chain being constructed with joint pieces, each of which is engaged with the end part of a step shaft disposed in each of the steps in the breadthwise direction thereof, and link members with one end part thereof being connected with one end part of the joint piece and to bring the adjacent pieces into mutually connected state; and a spherical joint interposed between the step shaft and the link member.
