Pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) polymers, especially low T , high tack, nonpolar and polar polymers useful in formulating PSA can be solubilized or dispersed in a supercritical fluid (SCF), such as liquid CO or supercritical CO , using an organic cosolvent such as toluene. PSA polymers can be polymerized in SCF fluids to make unique adhesive products. Inclusion of a fluorinated reactant in the SCF polymerization process yields a PSA with improved resistance to mineral oil.

Supercritical fluid pressure sensitive adhesive polymers and their preparation

A rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive which (i) contains as the main rubber component a natural rubber comprising, as the main component, fine particles having a particle diameter of 1 &mgr;m or smaller contained in a raw natural rubber latex, (ii) contains as the main rubber component a linear natural rubber polymer contained in a raw natural rubber latex, (iii) contains as the main rubber component a natural rubber having a weight-average molecular weight of from 100,000 to 1,000,000 contained in a raw natural rubber latex, (iv) contains as the main rubber component a natural rubber having a rupture strength of 0.5 MPa or lower in terms of green strength contained in a raw natural rubber latex, or (v) contains as the main rubber component a natural rubber contained in the serum obtained by centrifuging a raw natural rubber latex has excellent pressure-sensitive adhesive properties, does not substantially necessitate a mastication step, and can be easily produced with a small amount of energy in a short time.

Pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet made using the same

A pressure-sensitive adhesive material comprises a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer comprising 100 parts by weight of natural rubber and 10 to 120 parts by weight of styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS) having a radiate configuration with a styrene content of 10 to 45% by weight. Preferably, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is free of metals or metal compounds. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer may contain 5 to 150 parts by weight of a tackifier having an acid value of 1.5 or more. The pressure-sensitive adhesive material includes (A) a backing-less tape having a release liner having on one surface thereof the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and (B) a double-coated tape having a backing having respective pressure-sensitive adhesive layers on surfaces thereof, at least one of which is constituted by the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer of the above-described type.

Described is a process for the production of depolymerized natural rubber, which makes it possible to obtain, at high reaction efficiency, of depolymerized natural rubber in the liquid form and having a narrow molecular weight distribution; and also a process for the production of depolymerized natural rubber which is free from odor or coloring peculiar to natural rubber and is also free from the danger of immediate allergy derived from protein. The process according to the present invention comprises adding a carbonyl compound to a natural rubber latex, and then subjecting the resulting natural rubber to air oxidation in the presence of a radical forming agent or adding a carbonyl compound to the latex of deproteinized natural rubber and then subjecting the deproteinized natural rubber to air oxidation optionally in the presence of a radical forming agent.

Production process of depolymerized natural rubber

A depolymerized natural rubber having a number-average molecular weight of from 2,000 to 50,000 obtained by the depolymerization of a deproteinized natural rubber. A process for the preparation of a depolymerized natural rubber comprises dissolving a deproteinized natural rubber into an organic solvent so as to give a concentration of from 1 to 30% by weight and then carrying out air oxidation of the resulting solution in the presence of a metallic catalyst. The depolymerized natural rubber can provide the same physical properties as ordinary vulcanized rubbers, exhibits no odor or color characteristic to natural rubbers and causes no immediate allergy induced by protein.

Depolymerized natural rubber and process for preparation thereof

There are provided a deproteinized natural rubber latex which comprises a purified product of proteolytically treated natural rubber latex and contains fine particles of natural rubber latex, a deproteinized natural rubber which comprises a dehydrated product of the deproteinized natural rubber latex, and a process for the production of deproteinized natural rubber latex which comprises subjecting a latex solution prepared by (1) adding water and/or a surfactant to a natural rubber latex and then proteolytically treating the resulting latex solution or (2) proteolytically treating a natural rubber latex and then adding water and/or a surfactant to the treated natural rubber latex, to purification using a rotary plate membrane separation apparatus. The deproteinized natural rubber latex contains substantially no protein, is excellent in film-forming property, and provides a raw rubber film having excellent green strength, and the process can produce the deproteinized natural rubber latex in a high yield with high production efficiency.

In an ultrasonic imaging apparatus of the type having a plurality of selectable modes of operation, a motor-driven electroacoustic transducer is steered in a sector field in a predetermined relation to a selected operational mode. The sector scan format of returning echos is converted to a line-by-line raster display format in response to line sync pulses. The number of line sync pulses generated per unit time interval is scaled by a factor of N/M, so that it corresponds to the number of pulses generated by the encoder during the same time interval, where N and M are integers which are variable as a function of the selected mode. Phase comparison is made between the pulses generated by the encoder and the scaled line sync pulses to generate a phase difference signal from which a speed control signal is derived for controlling the speed of the motor. Since phase comparison is made for all the pulses generated by the encoder, the resolution of motor speed control is increased with respect to the number of energy transmissions, eliminating blurred or distorted tomographic images.
