A communication device comprises a connector to which a communication line is to be connected for sending and receiving a control signal concerning charge control between a transportation apparatus and a charging apparatus, a modem outputting a modulated signal obtained by modulating information to be sent and demodulating the modulated signal input, and a first internal communication line and a second internal communication line each being connected to the connector and the modem, the first internal communication line and the second internal communication line respectively being for sending the modulated signal and being for receiving the modulated signal, and sends and receives the modulated signal by superposing the modulated signal on the control signal. The modem outputs a beacon signal for communication, and comprises a branch line branched at an intermediate location of the second internal communication line, a wave detector circuit that detects the beacon signal transmitted to the branch line by way of the first internal communication line, the connector and the second internal communication line, and a diagnosis unit that performs a fault diagnosis of its own device based on a signal obtained through detection by the wave detector circuit.

A communication device includes a first resistance connected between a first reference potential and a midway point of one of a pair communication lines connected to a coil, a second resistance and a third resistance arranged in series so as to be connected between a second reference potential different from the first reference potential and a midway point of the other one of the pair communication lines, and a switch configured to open or close a path between the first resistance and the first reference potential.

An output circuit sends a control pilot signal generated in a voltage generator to an input circuit. A communication unit is connected between an earthed wire and a control pilot wire on the output side of the output circuit via a bandpass filter. Provided are a communication device and a communication system which are used for communication such as power line communication or inband communication in which a communication signal is superposed on lines contained in a charging cable, when a vehicle including a power storage device is charged from a power supply device, and which suppress a noise component such as harmonic distortion caused by occurrence of ringing without greatly affecting the communication signal, when transmitting the communication signal by switching from an idle state to an operating state. A transmission circuit included in a communication device of a vehicle includes line drivers, and the line drivers transmit a communication signal via two signal lines. In the two signal lines connected to the transmission circuit, inductance elements, resistance elements, and capacitance elements are interposed in series, respectively.
